I'm jealous! Only got to take two rides with my Dad before he sold his and moved away.

I'm very fortunate to have my son living just 12 miles from me. We share a lot of the same interest and hope to put some better rides together later this summer and this fall.

Wow, I have not been posting much even though my son and I ride almost every weekend.
This past Sunday we rode a bit southwest of home to an area around where my father lives outside of Chester SC. There is a nice, scenic little farm valley we've driven through just rambling around on our way to or from my dad's place but I wanted to ride through it with my gopro. So here are a few pics I made on that little spot and a couple from Brattonsville, SC just a little northeast of there.\

And at Brattonsville, known for it's Revolutionary and Civil War history events and reenactments.

Same place in winter time on our small bikes. Much better view with the leaves off the tree. ;)

Here are a few random pics from our rides around the Sandhills National Wildlife Refuge near Mcbee, SC.

    And a few more.
This was a tough sandy, hilly section of road for inexperienced riders on heavy dualsports. But it was fun. My fall was at the base of a steep down slope not 40 yards from where the road got far better. Just a displaced mirror and a sore shoulder for a few minutes.

The Sandhills NWR is fun to explore on a dual sport bike. Nice remote area and I think sand is good for building off road riding skills.

Never been there, looks very cool. How do you think it would be for mountain biking?

Great for mountain biking. My son and I put many miles in that 45,000 acres. Plus it's legal to ride mountain bikes behind any of the gates.
Not very technical riding but the deep sand (in places) and distances can be challenging. There are around 100 miles of roads in the refuge. No phone service.

We'll have to get down there, probably best on a not-too-hot day. Thx

Another cool place in the southern end of the refuge.

Yeah, that can be a miserable area when temps get well into the 90s. Must bring plenty of water! :)

Those southern parts look great. Am hoping to get down there before the heat and while there's still some bird migration. Right now am tied up with visitors and a few other issues. Going to be a race against summer.

Yikes. How long did that take? All sightings or sightings and hearings?

I did think birds. Yes 97 is way too hot for me. Was stuck in Asheville gridlock today with temps in mid to high 80s and that was too hot.
