John and I road out into South Carolina just knocking around on our V Stroms yesterday.
Heading out. John is ride testing his new Tusk Panniers.

Somehow we got on different roads searching for a gas station that could actually sell gas. ;)

Just about home... pretty shot of the wheat field that they were beginning to cut just as I arrived home.

Sunday morning John and I set out to ride some local roads that have been fun in the past on our small bikes.
    Leaving out.

We have some good roads in this area between Oakboro and Albemarle. Great for a quick ride without having to commit a whole day to riding when you can't otherwise.

We arrive at Low Water bridge, a bridge we've visited before when it was closed and underwater. This is the Rocky River.

The water looks pretty high, but as I mentioned earlier it can flow over the road surface when it really floods.

On our way back home we ran across these two dualsporters on Main Street in Oakboro. It turns out it was a husband and wife riding out to scout local kayaking spots.

John and I rode out towards Uwharrie Saturday morning on our VSTROMS but decided to head down to Southern Pines NC to revisit Southern Pines Brewing Co.

Great ride reports and great to see a father son duo out riding. Still trying to convince my pops to start riding... persistence is key. I just did a big loop out of Durham this weekend to the BRP area but on the way back took a shortcut from Salisbury east towards Denton and stumbled on "Bringle's Ferry Road. Fun ride with some great swooping curves that seems like its just north of your stomping grounds.

"Bringle's Ferry Road" looks interesting. The next time we're up in the High Rock Lake area we'll check it out. We ride out of Union County southeast of Charlotte.

My son and I rode up around the Bringles Ferry area yesterday but I'm not sure we went on Bringle's Ferry Rd.
We left out early yesterday on our Vstroms and it was a bit chilly. We had no idea where we were going at first so my son took the lead and headed us up north out of Monroe, NC.
I will post some more photos as I cut the interesting ones out of my video but for now...
    This was our route.

Along the way John spotted what looked like a tunnel which prompted a quick turnaround for a look see. See following post.

We rode back a short distance to find this somewhat interesting tunnel/earthen railroad bridge made from corrugated pipe.

Quite a while since I last posted. John and I are not riding together much but I hope to remedy that situation asap. I'm going to sell my Vstrom1000 and probably keep my KLR since it is so damned comfortable and easy to ride. I don't need the power of the V and interstate travel was what I bought it for. For backroad riding, which is what I prefer, the KLR fills all my needs plus a consistant 55 mpg is great!
Anyway I took both my bikes out for a ride today and fell in love with them all over again, especially my trusty 2013 KLR. I'm tall and have it set up just for me so how could I ask for more from a motorcycle?
