    Morning Folks!

John from San Francisco here, a recent Chain Gang and new ADV member...

So, I picked up my first dual-sport bike 3 weeks ago, and have been diligently going through all the maintenance and servicing ('97 F650 with 23k). I've got about 1,000 miles of road testing into her, and both her and rider believe the time to get off the tarmac is getting close...

I found your Desert Daze event at 0530, and am now pulling the tupperware off her to try and complete some minor maintenance issues and final checks today.

My hope is to be able to commit to attending and hit the road tomorrow... Wish me luck, this sounds like an absolute blast...

    Cheers!

Fridays ride will be mostly easy to moderate, possibly some single track and sand washes, Saturdays ride will be moderate and very scenic but fairly long. Looking at the weather projected for Sunday the border ride might be better than being above 7000' elevation in the Chiricahuas!

Well folks, count me in, I'm gonna give it a whirl. Spares, toolkit, campgear, and a bike that i believe to be in good mechanical shape... Unless, someone can give me a reason why not, I intend to hit the road from SF tomorrow morning. A thursday arrival may be ambitious, but that's the plan.

Is there a contact person for this gig by chance? Cheers folks!

Wish me luck... A new (to me) bike that needed a big mechanical once-over, and a suspect arse on a stock seat...

I just washed my tent tonight. Tomorrow it gets seam sealer and water proofing. I figure if I'm prepared, it won't rain.

It's worked for me before. With my last tent I didn't get a change to waterproof it before the first camping trip I did and it rained and the tent leaked. I waterproofed it and never got to use it in the rain again.

Prepared?? Last year, I forgot to pack a tent, picked up a six man (only one they had besides the kids' pup tent) at Walmart in Benson. It kind'a sucked but kept me dry and warm enuff over the weekend. On Monday, took it back to Walmart in Kingman and told'em it sucked. Got my money back.

I'll be better prepared this trip. See a bunch of ya Thursday thru Sunday.

With folks coming from Louisiana and San Fran, I figure we more local folks have no excuse.
