Jimmy Lewis says, “The best modification you can make to your bike is a better rider.” Serious dirt bike schools are perhaps the best investment a dirt bike rider can make. Regretfully 99% of dirt riders don’t get that. Jimmy has waiting lists for his classes. Every Steve Hatch class should be booked up for months but are not. We can only hope that sponsors will jump in to keep the best teacher of them all, Ryan Young, going. Greatly one has jumped in to help us Trials riders and Enduro Cross Trainers out.

Here are the details for the October 10-11th RY Trials class. It will be held at Poplarville, Mississippi on a private estate. The contact person is Leilani at Shroomdom38@outlook.com I attended a class there last October and the location for training was great and has been even further enhanced since then. Not only a chance to become a better rider but to eat some great Cajun food. You New Mexico riders tired of Tex-Mex? It’s a different world in Mississippi, certainly different from my home base.

I’m posting this to help the sponsor out since they are not on any web forums. Some of you might have met them at RY classes in Tennessee, North Carolina, and or at Trials Training Days. Great folks to jump in and sponsor a class. Hopefully some clubs or individuals with the ability to do so will keep the Ryan Young classes going.

So is he going to try and make the school thing more of a full time gig (or at least more often) now that he isn’t involved with RYP anymore?

Yep, I think his tentative plan is to keep offering to do classes but groups or individuals have to step up to the plate to get them going.

Ryan Young isn’t involved with RYP anymore?? I know Brad Baumert retired (and Ron Sallman stepped in), but I haven’t heard anything about Ryan being done too. Where did you hear that?

A lot of chatter going around about it. Surprisingly, as far as forums are concerned, there’s been more discussion about it on enduro forums rather than trials forums.

I talked to Jerry Young about 10 days ago. He said Ryan had sold out his share in RYP, and was now an employee of Sherco USA. Ryan, Brad, and one more person were the partners in RYP and all have sold out to the guy from Texas (Ron Solomon?) who is running the Factory One Sherco Team. Seems to be a lot in flux and wouldn't shock me if Ryan decided against being an employee in the end. Christy Williams had replaced him as Trials Team manager quite a while ago.

I do know that things have changed on dealers purchasing OEM Sherco/Scorpa parts..... They no longer go through Kevin, and now have to go through Sam Fastle by email to place orders.

Well that gave Ryan a twenty five year run. It would be nice if all he had to do was a dozen or so schools a year to stay doing something in the sport!

What's wrong with Alcohol Fuel Dragster sponsorship? It gets the brand out.

Seems like a shit-ton of money to put the brand in front of the wrong crowd.
