I wish! CALFIRE has yet to adopt the 3 shift schedule. We have the 3 day schedule.

Just saw this thread. Usually only check the GS area.

24 years as a FF in the East Bay. Last 20 as an Engineer. (holy SH*T, is that right?:huh)

My Capt. has a GS and my FF has a Harley. Good crew.

I have been through 2 Law Enforcement academies, 2 Structural Fire academies, 3 EMS courses and endless other training.
I have a very simple list of tips for success.
My personal philosophy for success is show up as physically and mentally prepared as possible (get your life, mind and body in the best possible condition).
Keep your head down, mouth shut and fly under the radar.
The tallest blade of grass gets cut first so don't be the best at anything. Keep your personal opinions and ideas to your self until you are out of the academy. Once you show up on the radar you will be under more scrutiny.
    Good Luck

Wow! CALFire seems to be well represented here. Add another to the list. 20+ years and counting. Currently in FKU (Thats Fresno for the rest of you). If you ever make it out this way near Shaver Lake or Pine Flat look me up. The locals have been showing me a bunch of the sweet spots.

Actually remember where you started and lead by example!
I worked along side some BIA? guys from your neck of the woods. They put us City guys to the test, we passed, barely.

Yep, 37 1/2 years for me. Retired with 25 at the City of Phoenix FD (Fire Captain/Paramedic). Retired again after 8 with Camp Verde, AZ FD (Assistant Chief/Paramedic). Currently 4 1/2 with the Pinewood FD (Munds Park, AZ - Chief of Department).

Currently living in Camp Verde and working with Pinewood FD for at least a couple more years! Anybody heading to the Overland Expo is welcome to stop by the station for a cup of coffee, and if interested, swap a couple lies and a patch.

Came home from Prescott yesterday after honoring our 19 Fallen Brothers. I can't believe it's been a year already. I am humbled an honored to counted as a firefighter. Thank you all for your service and stay safe!

And again this year, too. I was just up in the Sierra foothills... bone dry, and no snow in the mountains.

    Bob :wave

And thanks to all y'all taking risks for the rest of us.
