Ask me about any of my old bikes, and I can tell you stuff about them I have no right to remember. And yet I can't find my car keys...

This is the kind of pic I come here for. No brown seat, no knobbies--just an honest, battle-ready flattracker with a spoolie front, a compression release, and--bonus points--a Bultaco two-stroke.

once I got home and looked at it on the computer vs phone, I could see that it’s using a speedway layshaft/clutch

talk about an unfair advantage around a short track!

I hope you have someone near and dear to keep and archive all that if something were to happen.

I have a friend who’s mentor did Indy cars from the 40s thru 80s (ish) and when he passed his kids threw away all his archives, that they saw as junk. My buddy pulled 2 van loads out of the trash, and who knows what’s been lost.

Something like that happened when Big Bill Spencer died. He had a huge collection of flattrack photos that nobody seemed to want. I heard Jimmy Filice ended up with them for a while, and now I think Dante D'Ambruoso has them, or knows where they are. (Dante is the guy who restores all those pristine Yamaha roadracers you see in the Yamaha booth at trade shows and races.)

So far I've scanned only about 5 percent of what I have. I probably couldn't reliably pin down when a lot of them were taken; I was pretty sloppy about marking contact sheets back then. The 35mm slide boxes are mostly marked, but some just say something like "Laguna" with no year.

I like to think my ex would recognize their value and pass them on to someone who'd appreciate them.

I dunno my ass from a hole in the ground as far as photography goes, but itd be pretty awesome to take about 2-300 70’s/80’s flat track photos and make a coffee table book with no words.

Words are nice but I'd take a photo's only book any day.

A photo to me is worth a thousand words.

I could stare at a trick works bike...for a long time.

Did enjoy picking out Dick Mann at few photos back, no words needed.

Johnny Lewis rides to a great 6th place finish in the AFT Production Twins main on the 650 Royal Enfield. Impressive.
