A T'Bird with an SU, a rare sight. SU frames were around, and I used to pick up manifolds often enough, but after years of collecting could never get enough parts to make a motorcycle SU. So I used HS2's instead. On a rigid SU frame, I had to file the top of the damper for clearannce, pretty tight. You can see how low the top of the dashpot is to an HS2.

The blue bike above strongly resembles the first Triumph I rode. A neighbor had brought it to Arkansas from California and it was pretty beat. It still had enough power to make a 14 year old wide eyed. Growing up watching Wide World of Sports gave me a great appreciation the bikes and the riders.

In the late 70's I was at a party , lots of bikes and local notables from the bike scene.
Lanny on his stroked Shovelhead , Bronson on his hot Pre-Unit Triumph in a frame like the blue bike and me on my 860 Ducati all left at the same time.
All being there together of course meant ,"Let's run 'em ! "
So we did. we were on a two lane road with lots of curves and rock fences on both sides. Lanny took the inside ,Bronson the center and I was hanging out on the wrong side of the road.
And off we went. It was surprising how even it was for three bikes from 3 countries.
The straight was pretty short and not having the power to get in front , I had to tuck in behind at the first curve or risk being "That guy" that didn't and have my story end on the grill of a Buick .
It was fun while it lasted.

The timing case on the middle red bike looks like it's from a early '80s electric start Bonny, going by some period magazine articles I have.

Well...not exactly modern either. I bought my XR650R twenty years ago. Nice looking ride there.
