I saw two guys ride by the ice cream shop in virden yesterday, one with a gopro on his helmet. Would have been an awesome day to ride.
Had a great time riding around Manitoba. I enjoyed the whole trip, but I think next time I'd like to do the ride up to Clear Lake again, and spend a weekend, just riding around there. the campground was great, and the town site is pretty interesting. The bison burger at the Wigwam was terrific. The weather was fantastic, and the fall colors were fantastic. I saw a couple of Adv bikes on route. Hwy 19 from the east gate to Clear Lake was a treat. Nice curves, and in good shape.
. I can't remember Saturday, did I have a small angry woman on the back of the DL? She wanted me to take her on a little errand while she was wearing tights and sandals. (I had her put on jeans and boots).
It was Fri. I made a quick evening loop looking for @Guntar, saw a BMW at Wigwam that looked like it might be two-up, so I didn't want to bother them, left a sticker. Yesterday was a great ride, Dauphin and back (Wasagaming) for parts. Wind sheltered. Leaves are starting to turn, so don't leave it too long. Gonna do Qu-appelle following @GreatWhiteNorth 's track before the leaves fall.
Awesome. I've done that Qu'Appelle Valley route 3 times now. Gotta be mindful of the dirt sections, impassable when wet.
Thanks for the sticker, I was wondering who did that. I love it. It promptly was adhered to my top box. Many thanks. You should have stopped in, the beer was tasty :)
. You caught a nice weather window. I was hoping I'd catch you at the campground. Thought you might be two-up and didn't want to bother. I'm not a sticker-blast type but a few subtle stickers works for me. What campsite # would you recommend?
I was at site 640. It was okay for a night. I haven't been in a campground in a long, long, time. I do like back country camping, but the trip to Clear Lake was part of a nostalgia thing for me, and a campground was in keeping with the type of trip I was on. I think I'll be back up that way a couple of times next year. Looks like there's some nice riding in the area. Hope we can connect next time.
We stayed in the full service site, a short walk to the restaurant and bar. Fall colours just starting. Went to Minnedosa and Dauphin to enjoy the fall colours Just leaving the park, north bound.
Some fun local facts .. to me a least.. The Dauphin-way entrance is at the Moon Lake Ranger Station...? and Highway 19, the locals call the Norgate Road and the East Entrance is the Norgate.
It was such a great weekend to get out. I really liked Hwy 19. and the northbound rd to Dauphin is a nice stretch as well.
Back from a 2 week camp ride in the Black Hills SD. Awesome as always.... in spite of nutso weather. Will post up a link to pics and story when I get them sorted
My idea was to follow @GreatWhiteNorth s route along the Qu'Appelle. Regina, bed and back. . But This happened.. . . ManitobaDirtRiders Enduro. At St.Lazare. Had to snoop around there for a couple of hours. . . So I shortened to just one day. . Fort Espérance. Hard to get a "feel" for the place, so overgrown. . Leaves hadn't turn in the valley, little more fall colours on top. Wish I'd kept going the weather held. . . Turned at Esterhazy. There was a place I wanted to find on the return. . Olha Mass Grave. and I'm pretty sure there is another North of Strthclair at "The Bend". . If you're up there, buy at least chocolate bar a the Olha General Store. The Audy Road is in great shape, small corduroy and marbelee on the outside crns, it isn't maintain like PR. Absolutely no problem at posted speed. Some years it was all corduroy but maybe the Reserve is doing some of the maintenance. Bison were on the main road so I turned and and went the other split.
here's a link to some pics from my recent 2 weeker in the South Dakota Black Hills https://photos.app.goo.gl/gch5ENbgemWp11HV6 4 of us for a 5 days....then down to 2 for 3 days...the remainder on my own Weather was incredibly extreme from searing heat to near freezing drizzle and winds that were soo bad that the tornado siren in Hill City went off.....just about the time I was crossing over Pactola Lake Dam Rd, which is high over the lake. Probably the worst place to be at the time. Glad to have not been swept off the bike. Still ....another awesome ride in the hills. That is probably number 35 or something.
