Found a related website on the DAKAL, which looks pretty cool. https://www.dakotaadventureloop.com/home.html

There’s a recent ride report on this in the daytrippin’ forum.

Looks like an epic ride. Do you head down to Vegas to ride during the winter?

Is $1600 American for 5 nights 4 days the going rate for that type of thing?

Hmmm. Double occupancy on the rooms too.

    Liberal estimates:
4 nights at double occupancy is like $300 ($75 per night)

    Breakfast x 4 is $60 ($15 per breakfast)

    4 gourmet x 4 meals is $200 ($50 a meal)

So, as the website says participants are given a $1000 charitable donation receipt... Sounds about right.

That's not bad, I have seen some that work out to $600/day; although they do have a support vehicle and team at that price.
Not sure the donation matters for the Canucks?

    Probably not.

I am not sure how much these things typically run, but $1600 USD for a 4 day, BYOB vacation and double occupancy sounds kinda expensive. For some though, it might be chump change.

Drove from Corner Brook to near Brandon over the past few days, helping my brother move. Our route took us 4500km of driving, the same as NYC to LA according to Google Maps.

Saw so many places that I would love to explore with the DR!

You hit about the nirvana of motorcycle riding. I could spend a lot of time in that whole area.

Went for a good ride today. Was a bit chilly but the timbersled kit fitted to the africa twin worked wonders towing various vehicles out of the ditch around the perimeter hwy.

I'll confess I gave been "lurking". But generally in a funk a too depressed to post.
    So let's play a game?
I buggered my left knee pretty good. Same day I sold my beloved cb500x. That would be the beginning of me entering my bike "depression".
But, I did but a new one. Brand fricken new.
And have gotten a couple rides on it as I
The knee heals, slowly. (Waiting for an MRI but moving around nicely now. Just a bit gimpy)
But this isn't a knee post. It'll be fine, or I wouldn't have purchased a new bike.
This isn't a "I miss my old bike" post. Because I will. I'll make that post next summer lol.
This will be a "what did ya buy?" post.
Shouldn't take long given the collective bike intelligence local knowledge here. :)
    Hint 1. It's new.
    Hint 2. 17 inch rear.
Winner gets a test ride! Just not this year.
Although the dealer was excellent, and I bet you could test ride there almost anytime.
Side note, my shopping process was limited to 3 dealers, and I'd say I was pretty happy with all if them. My purchase was narrowed by test rides and the bikes itself. I felt I would have been in good hands regardless of which brand.
One machine it was the bike itself after 2 rides I decided it wasn't for me, as a daily driver. Can expand on that later.
Second machine...oh boy take my money I was close. Couple things though, not about the bike itself, well maybe one thing. But just the overall outcome and where I wanted to be.
Third bike...I took home. Test drove it twice. Compared it too the others and the pros outweighed the cons too much to ignore. Only one con really, and it's a personal thing.
So there's some reading for y'all!
I've posted I'm sure about some of my test rides previous. That'll be cheating looking them up. But I know for sure I haven't posted about every bike I sat on or looked at. And not the one I bought, I think.
I've enjoyed the pics posted by others recently, only jealously had kept me from "liking" them, kidding of course!
2wheellifer is right, let's make some more noise here. I'm tired of snow already :(

    So...what did I buy?

New bike has cruise, as standard equipment.
