Not looking too good weather wise. Day time highs in the 3-4 C range for the extended forecast. Crap !!

I know a couple of KLR guys that live in apartments a few blocks apart in the Osborne Village area - both have had their bikes messed with many times, attempted stolen, vandalized... one actually stolen but later recovered. Seems anything left outside in plain sight becomes a target, and a bike cover and security chain aren't much of a deterrent. I'm sure many of you guys know people with similar stories? I go out of my way to keep the motorcycle stuff out of sight and covered up.

I'm glad the temptation to ride to work has been gone the last few mornings. I park on a surface lot downtown. I'm sure this group of thieves has been caught and released on bail several times. Hopefully a judge will have the cajones to leave them in jail!

A relatively stock DR in the wild .. very rare. More DR pics, cause even KLR owners need heros too.

Ventured out for a a couple hrs of KLR riding on Tuesday. Those 70k winds were brutal south of Winnipeg.
    Borderline dangerous !
But at least no snow yet.....

Me on the KTM 250xcf-w in Sandilands a month ago. Great bike !
Couple days later had a mishap that broke my right thumb and a complete tear of my left shoulder rotator cuff.
Sold the bike to a friend of a friend.
Now back to just a weestrom and KLR.

Apart from shimming the carb needle and unblocking access to the idle mix screw, I’ve left the dr totally stock. Decided to hold off on farkles till I know if it’s a keeper.

With the cold weather we get at both ends of the riding season and the near incessant winds, I find myself wishing for a bike with the wind protection and stability of a heavyweight tourer... except without the heft and bulk of a heavyweight tourer.

As for the snow covered bikes: those been “winterized” compliments of mother nature!

Were your injuries moto related, if so how did it happen? I was hitting pine tree root kickers on the trail today and one was at far more of an angle than I realized, don't know how I wasn't sent off sideways into the woods. Turned out to be one of those really ugly, leg flailing, head shake, panic throttling out of control but saved it, type of maneuvers. Changed gears and rode some technical washed out trails for the rest of the ride, channeled my inner Graham Jarvis. Thinking about building a single track trail in the ravine, just need to clear out a couple trees to drop in there. Hope you heal up better than ever, important thing is to not rush the process, tears take a long time to mend.

Fantastic photos, beautiful area. Where is that ?
As for the injuries...ya, got them channelling MY inner Graham Jarvis....lol... Tree jumping.
The big debate now is surgery or no surgery. Supraspinatus tear.
Either way that means no ice riding for this cowboy this winter.
Will just have to hope for a better 2021 season, this one has been ...ummm... less than stellar.

Thanks, I feel spoiled riding around here - west of Sault Ontario. Have a fun local trail which reminds me of Sandilands, and then everything else is mountain terrain. Tree jumping is usually a non issue, until it is and then all bets are off. Is there a possibility the injury will heal on its own? On the bright side, you'll have plenty of time to setup the next bike. Was out with my 2001 YZ 250, built up as a woods weapon; RG3 suspension, hydraulic clutch, PC pipe and silencer, jetting, vforce reeds, CR250 front brake, applied works top clamp, hand guards, and a skid plate. Engine and transmission were rebuilt, almost too much compression when kicking over.

    I had an 04 and 05 yz250.
Loved that steel frame 04. Worked magic on ice.
As far as tree jumping goes, you're right, it's good till it's no good ... then it's really no good.

Got out for a Kwik and Kool KLR Kaffee this afternoon. Only +2C, winds 30 gusting to 40ish klicks... but sunny. If this was last ride of the season, it'll do. Beaudry Park was busy! The most cars I've ever seen parked there. Ride made possible by Gerbing heated gear... and long johns. Meet Lucas, mega miler adventurer.

3 young guys on dirt bikes were ripping it up across the river, doing laps on the park trails - very much verboten, but they did look like they were having fun... Edit if you look close you can see 'em there on the riverbank:
