It seems like most of the Beasts here have a photo thread, so why not one for the Stelvio?

I'll start it off. Post early, post often. :D

This should be a very cool thread...

I spend a great deal of time in SoCal in fact my Stelvio is there... Most Sundays I can find time to get out and about in the hill and mountain roads in Eastern San Diego County and beyond. I have just started exploring and there is much to cover.

This road is just out of the city limits by a mere five miles and has become one of my favorite rides.

This area, on the way back from Phoenix, AZ reminded me of the Badlands of South Dakota...

LOL. Yup. Maine. I would have said 2010, but it very well could have been 2011.

Is that up in your area...? Looks as if you had a decent dirty ride that day.

That shot was taken on the road up to the Frazier Mtn fire lookout at the peak. It's just west of the I-5 "sort of" behind the Gorman OHV area. Here's a shot at the peak.

It's about 1.5 hrs from where I live. I took a side trip up there during a 300 mile pavement loop I was doing that day. Gotta love having a ADV bike and not worrying about when the pavement ends :D

Here's a shot of some of the pavement along that route. This is Wheeler Pass heading out of Ojai.

That is a great shot. So do you have two sets of rims....?

Also, I noticed the Laminar Lip in that shot, I had to go back to the dirty shot to see if that was in place then.

I had used one on the Norge with a stock screen. Does the Lip work well for you...? Is that a stock screen...?

    Thanks,
    Rob

    Rob,

I have a Laminar Touring Lip on my '12 with the Stock Windshield. It offers quite an improvement over just having the Windshield, at least for me. Edit: I believe the Windshield on your bike is somewhat different than the one that came on my '12, but am not familiar with the exact differences.

The Touring Lip is a bit wider and extends down further than just the stock lip. I bought it when I had a 650-Strom and just kept it when I sold the bike.

    Hey Chuck,
The screen on mine is a Givi and it works well for me. The PO installed it and the stock screen, bars and mirrors are being sent to me sometime.

I don't really anticipate using the stock screen but I was curious as to how well the Laminar worked on it. I liked it on the Norge...

So, let's see a photo of this '12 of yours... :D

    Best,
    Rob

One of the areas that I am able to stop while out and about on the new favorite roads that I have discovered... many of these mountain roads do not have places to pull over to take photos as often as I would like.

Sorry Rob, but for some reason I can not post pictures on this website. I tried when I installed the Cruise Control on my '12 and could not. The site info at the bottom of the page even tells me that I can not. However, I think the Laminar Lip website shows the Touring Lip as compared to the Normal Lip -- it is wider (sticks out past the OEM Shield) and hangs down further on the sides (therefore, it gives more protection).

Boxer -- I ran that same road last year and it would have been very easy to let the throttle get "wide open". Hope it didn't cost too much. However, I did have a similar discussion with a CO State Police Officer just East of Sterling, CO. I was only "9 over the posted" so he gave me smile and a warning ticket. Maybe it was my gray hair. :D
