On June 6, a friend and I will start our SCMA-sanctioned Four Corners ride. Our itinerary has us finishing in 20 days, which includes the four days to get to Blaine, WA to start the clock.

We both bought nice used bikes to ride that we believe will make the journey.

To mitigate failures, I put a lot of effort into replacing and upgrading my 2003 Goldwing for the tip. I've started a Youtube video series which will document the trip as we progress. Wish us the best!

Making daily videos doesn't always happen. When you get up, pack up, get riding after getting breakfast and coffee, you don't get much time. In the evening, it's looking for camping, or in our case lately, a good deal on a last-minute hotel. The weather has been a big factor in our riding out west.

For starters, June is late spring/early summer to most of us. Well in Montana and Wyoming, they didn't get the memo apparently. On I-90 around Gillette, WY, we experienced low 40 degree temps with strong winds and cold rain. This went on for the whole afternoon. We laid up in a nice hotel in Billings, MT along with decent pub-style meal and laundry services. The local red ale was also welcomed.

Over Bozeman Pass, the sun was out but the Wing recorded 37 degrees. After a breakfast stop, the sun started doing its job, finally.

The other side of the coin is the extreme heat we started experiencing in Oregon. In Medford, the Wing said 103 degrees. The next day in Bakersfield, 109. Yesterday east of Yuma, 113. At the end of the day, the glue holding the soles of my boots on melted. I had to epoxy the soles back on. I'm hoping it holds. Onto El Paso today.

Nice...some of your video work makes me a bit queasy :nah so I didn't make it thru a lot of them, I'm afraid.

So, I've done a few IBA rides (50cc, 48 States, etc. - see sig for link to blog), but my question for you - was it worth it?
