Thanks for the report @liv2day looks like a hell of a lot fun.
Great videos, with the drone and rider shots, loved it
Appreciate the comments @Long Trail & @805gregg!
Glad you guys enjoyed the report, look forward to the next time I'm able to get out and rip around.
Great RR L2R! Really like the drone work, but it does need more Allman Bros.
Thanks @dammitdave! And LOL - likely kinda jarring to go from classic, live Allman Bros to Tool. Midnight Rider is one of my favs, need to get more footage so I can use something from Bad Company in the future too.
For those interested, I pulled the tracks off my GPS. Also posting the planned tracks (2020-10-16_China_Hat_Weekend.gpx), though a word of caution if you try to do the 177 mile planned track - you'll need to find an alternate way south from the China Hat CG. Best bet is to likely head further east like the 157 mile track, or cut some miles off and head west then south so you're not dealing with private property on the southbound section.
I look forward to getting back over there and exploring more, it's crazy how many FS roads are within the Deschutes NF; and you can take routes out of that to head south into tons of BLM land. Frickin' awesome.
dammmnnnn l2d, you always bring the best of OR....
aside from the good riding, seeing the pile high stack of firewood, being toasty in the evening just completes the perfect day!
Thanks @NSFW! Appreciate it man. Don’t recall if your ride up here brought you through China Hat, but it’s a great area.
Keep the knobby side down man!
Wow! You folks know how to live. Fantastic!
Looks like a great time. Haven't made it to Fort Rock yet, maybe next spring. Love the old-school pickup/camper, what is that exactly?
More awesome! I raised the front end over a cattle guard and slammed into a deep pothole and sheared off a caliper bolt that also held a low set of Aux lights. Bummed, clipped the light wire and replaced the bolt in town the next day. Did not slow me on a 7 day trip, didn't slow your crew a bit either!
Thanks @Pavement Optional, appreciate it! The old school camper is a Toyota Dolphin (sorry about the link - couldn't find anything but an RV selling site for it...lol), though I don't know the vintage. I do know the heater doesn't work and the guys used one of those MyBuddy heaters so they didn't freeze their arses off. It's a pretty cool setup that gets decent mileage for what it is; though hauling multiple bikes over the mountains means being patient
I think you have a gift for understatement!
Carhart jacket and sweat pants. My kind of guy!
Nice chronicle ! What a hoot that was, (still recycling the empty glass) and since my WR is still opened up it's a great escape por moi aussie !
