Good on ya dude. I’ve got a cheddar dog with your name on it next time we camp! I’m in the same boat, hospital is the last place I wanna end up right now. Talking to those on the front lines is...well, downright scary.

At the current rate, I’ll have time to detail my bike :lol3

Yeah, the “boss” has already made clear that social isolation will not involve excess time in the LaZBoy.

Chefs of my high caliber should never have to mix paint...

Yeah I thought about it too, getting an injury while out riding for fun and a trip to the ER would not be good for anyone.

I called off my ride today for the same reason.

Also, while traffic volume is lower, I've seen an increased level of really stupid driving, perhaps because people are distracted.

Was gonna head out solo today, pavement only. Decided to do some maintenance on my cross bicycle, which I’ll be on later today, and was on Wednesday. Might ride moto on Sunday. Have to see. Took the 701 out yesterday and ran a couple errands.

Time to start setting the 500 up for some extended dual sport trips. First up was replacing my broken stock speedo with a Trail Tech.

And since there’s no hurry, I went ahead and cleaned out the Locktite bin. And organized it by color, with color coded bins and tape. Ahhhh, OCD at ease.

Next up, luggage. Glad to see that my Wolfman Enduro bags and duffle will fit the 500 as well. Worked great on the ol’ Zed. Will probably invest in a small rear rack to strap things to and save the fender.

Keep going back and forth on exhaust, won’t work as is. Either a new muffler and tuner so it runs cooler. Or heat shield, silicone pot holders and a prayer. Although just a rack may do it. Jury still out.

I’ve got one of the Giant Loop heat shields gathering dust, you’re welcome to it if it will help. upload_2020-3-26_23-48-5.jpeg

I’ll dig it out tonite. Let me know which place you’ll be tomorrow afternoon or Sunday & I’ll run it out - needs me some seat time.

    Hi everyone!
I moved to Afton this past fall (going to UVA for grad school, shooting for a PhD in mechanical engineering), bought a bike, and have since been enjoying whatever I can find by way of fire roads and trails in the blue ridge mountains (well, until quarantine shut us all down). i'd love to meet some other folks in the area (I appreciate the group name <3 ), and maybe tag along if you'll have me (once we're all allowed back out and mingling of course).

My bike is a husky svartpilen 401, seen in my photo next to a handsome rottie mix. it's not full-blown dual-sport territory, but it's definitely held its own on anything i've thrown it at so far.

    Cheers,
    tp

Welcome tp. You are in dual sport heaven where you are, loads of stuff at all levels from where you are & westwards. Check out the Cat herders thread also, and there’s a Cville thread as well.

Fortunately for you, everybody likes having a mechanical engineer along for rides...

This is a lively crowd in here, don’t underestimate our creativity. We will eventually find something to break where your unique skills will apply, just give us a wee bit of time. Meanwhile, study hard - we’ll need you someday.

Rode up to the mailbox today - man, my thighs are burning!
