Yeah, first to get one should post a review. Possibly they just call is a 'brochure' because it's not too big.. or.. it's just a lame little pamphlet extoling the virtues of buying the book..that'd suck.

Heyyy... I got it! :deal Unless I won a lottery or something, I don't see why it wouldn't work for everyone. I was seriously shocked I got something like that in the mail for free.

I have no affiliation with the DOT other paying taxes and driving on the roads.

The book itself (it's at home and I'm at work now) is maybe around 1" think. It's National Geographic branded. For each of the roads it describes it has from 1-4 pages describing what's on the road in a pretty good amount of detail, including the history of the road and areas it goes through.

For example, it has more information than this: http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/10501/stories/47044

    But less than this: http://www.byways.org/explore/byways/10501/itinerary/69833

I remember looking at this one specifically since it's really close by me.

I got the book as a gift. It's fairly good but most of the roads are designed for cages. Still, there are some nice tidbits in it. And considering it has the NG yellow box on it means there's got to be some great pics inside.

I wish I'd seen this sooner!

I stumbled on a few roads with signs marking them as "scenic byways" on my last trip, and they were very scenic and peaceful. These aren't typically high speed roads or super twisty, but they sure ARE pretty. :D
