    New sidecar Info from Claude

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wanted to share this with you guys here first with Just a note to say that we, Freedom Sidecars L.L.C. are developing a sidecar chassis that will be simple and affordable with bike specific mounts for the Triumph Thruxton, Scrambler and Bonneville. This is not to replace our present Bullet sidecar by any means but will offer an alternative to it. The mounting system will be bike specific and very simple for a self install. The suspension is via torsion bar with a built in tilt adjustor as standard. We, of course will offer a body and so forth for it but it could also be utilized to place your own sidecar body on or possibly build your own. It is destined to be offered in a fully done stage and in kit form as well.
It is meant to be more of a road going chassis and not a dual sport type of sidecar. Not to say it wont be happy on dirt roads and so on that is about it really.
I took the prototype for a secret spin last night under the cover of darkness and it worked very well sans body.
No pics for a while. It is IMPORTANT to say that this is a time proven design which we have done a few similar projects with but this one is a step above the previous versions.
Wanted to share the excitement we have here first as you all have been such a great group at ADV Rider.

I will be watching for them as well Claude! I am researching putting a sidecar on my Sportster, or just buying a prebuilt rig. I have SOME mech ability left after my surgeries, so I am a bit leary of attempting it myself. Which also makes me just a bit worried about the upkeep on a Ural. My budget prohibits just sending my bike to one of you great wrenchs and getting a delux rig set up, so I will indeed watch and hope for the new set up! Thank you for the work you do!

The on ewe are working on is destined for the Triumph Bonneville , thruxton and scrambler models. However we do have plans to do a similar sidecar concept for the sportsters after this one. What year sporty do you have?

I have a 2008 1200c Anniversary Sporty. Please do keep us informed!

I had open heart surgery in 07 and have a substantially compromised chest, neck and right arm, and MyLady had a pretty bad auto accident a few years ago, but before that we toured a lot on a FLT. We both really want to get back to getting out there and rolling!

Any estimate of aprox cost? I keep bouncing around between just selling the sporty and buying a prebuilt set up, either a Ural, or something already done. The cats PJs would be to buy a new Bonniville and have you put the new car on it, but that would be about twice what I have to work with in $$$$$.
