Yes the dark continent awaits my arrival and I'm excited about it.
Unfortunately Helga Maria will not be coming.
I have been offered a free bike from South Africa to use for my trip.
It's not going to happen soon but I will say the plan is for at least a 6 month journey. It will hopefully include some flights to some ancient Roman and Egyptian ruins and will tie together nicely with my Mayan studies. I'm really looking forward to all that.

There is still a bit of posting to complete this thread but not a heck of a lot.

I'm enjoying following friend's active ride reports these days as well. It certainly is interesting being on this side of the fence once again but with new perspectives because I have a clearer understanding of adventure riding. Following them keeps the fire stoked until I get back out there.

Ooooopsy, I hit the wrong computer key :imaposer

OK seriously now... well that's pretty serious but butt :lol3

After leaving my Dad and Brother's it was time to get towards Kamloops BC where all my stuff is in storage. I neeeed my work gear. FUCK SAKES... This is what I've been running away from for 2 years and now it's in my face again. Am I sad? NO !!! Life goes on and it must be done.

I waited for a few days longer because of the weather and I finally got a clear window. After riding in the south for so long do you think I want to ride through the mountains of British Columbia in the fuckn rain? Hell no I don't. Take it easy, my body has not acclimated to this shit yet.

    DSC00624.jpg

Through the mountains from Chilliwack to Princeton was pretty darn good and I was feeling good. Damn what a great mountain ride.
I get gas and a Subway sandwich and I think I can make Penticton which is maybe an hour or two from here. Depends on speed of course.
Well... no sooner do I get outta here and around the mountain I see this !!!!!

    DSC00627_1.jpg

    FUCK !!!!!
Are you kidding me you bastard travel godz?
    What a bunch o shit !!!!
Now I'm pissed, but my mind is still in Mexico mode and I think I can run through it and only get a little wet.
Well... this is BC and when you see this.... it stays

But like an idiot I went for it.
If I was smart, I would retreated to Princeton and found a cozy hotel and had beers... But Noooooo

So after riding through this pouring rain, I get to the junction to Penticton.... and BAMMO..... more thunder rain clouds coming my way.
Fuck that... I see clear skies towards Osoyoos and I'm following that babies.

I pull into town and luckily find the cheapest hotel in town by talking with a few folks. The owner chucked me in the back and gave me a great deal. Hell yeah I'll take it. I'm soaked and I need to get my veins wet. I wanted to camp but it was too dark and I had to bite the bullet.
Pretty nice digs for the night and I went to find the beer store and started to feel that weird feeling of being home again. Ya man it was weird. Kinda like Twilight Zone weird.

I have to apologise I did not get time to follow you the last few months, just bloody hectic stuff. Had a chance to catch up on you somewhat now. It is amazing to see how your outlook on life and travel and just how you see things evolved since we hooked up two and a half odd years in Mexico. Travelling truly enriches your life and make you a different person.

Personally I want to meet all kind of travellers, short term, long term, backpacking I don't mind. I might just learn something from them. Yes obviously mixing with locals is important but not be all stuck in them. Consequently this week I posted this on Instagram:
"Dear friend Peter from @bartang.eu and @amsterdamtoanywhere send me this quote last week. "A journey is measured in friendships, rather than miles"
This we can attest to. We are left with a much richer experience and lifelong friends. Kicking down miles and passport stamps in the end means nothing and only leaves you with a few memories. Forging friendships with people from all over the world is priceless"

The only ones I try and avoid are the bloody "the most" lot. You know the most hard core, the most bestest, the most know it all. How do you know they are "the most"? They will tell you and spew everywhere. And we have met our fair share of them from all genre of travelling types :lol3

    CHERRIES

I love cherries of all forms and functions :imaposer

On my way outta Osoyoos I see the prizes. OMG NO WAY I"M PASSING THIS BY

If I had my pick up truck, it would have been filled and I probably would have died from Cherry overdose

But I had my bike and filled a smallish bag for my tank bag (expanded)

There was NO better time to come home than Cherry season.

The interior of BC produces some of the best fruits in this world.

I might be a bit sad to be back home but not at this moment

Places and moments and pieces of heavenly pie is what living life is all about

Now I have a silly question. Maybe not silly but it's been on my mind for a long time.

Is it possible to make a hard paper copy of an RR from here on Advrider? With a bit of editing of course. It sure would be cool to have a kind of coffee table type of report. I get asked about my trip all the time and my usual response is "Read my report, I can't explain 2 years adventure in 5 minutes" haha

Maybe I should ask the admin or @Baldy

Cheers for any advice on this

This might help. Get rid of all the chit-chat and you could probably print it yourself. :D

    awesome

Boy it would be so great to have an edited paper report with color photo's

Then when I get asked about my trip, I can just throw the paper in their lap and say "there it is, now let me have my beer in peace" :photog :imaposer

OK, I have to admit I want a copy for myself to skim from time to time. Certainly easier than reading 5000 posts on here hehe

From Osoyoos was only a quick stop for a photo and keep going to Kelowna then Kamloops

Penticton which is a big party town in the Summer.
On the beaches and tubing down the river it's a drunkfest and keeps the copper's on their toes

Was pretty mellow on this day and I didn't take a river shot of the tubers

This is.... hmmm ... I don't remember but it's on the way
The Okanagan of BC is really quite beautiful and Beautiful British Columbia is righftully namedas such

    DSC00640_1.jpg

Penticton BC (maybe the previous photo is the far end) So much water and lakes here. And we're keeping it, so hands off USA !!!!!!
    DSC00644.jpg

And what's left of my cherries
    DSC00647_1.jpg

OMG cherry season is over !!!
That's almost more depressing than my journey being over

A bit of a stop in Kelowna to have dinner with my best friend who I saw in Playa del Carmen while him and his wife came down.
