Might be more than a week, or not. Depends on how wet it is this weekend. Where are you in LA?
Easy day today, 130 miles or so.
But, got some photos!
Twisty road getting to/from there.
Then backtracked to here.
I was here 5 yrs ago in mid-October when foliage was at the peak. Even sold a print and won a photo show with a pic from then. Thought I would take a look at different time of the year.
Still nice....but not stunning.
Planning to head for Willville Campground tomorrow, might get wet over the weekend.
Finding it difficult to stop for photos....and I think I know why.
The roads and most of the scenery are still a lot like home. So....I've seen it already. Not like last year going across the flat breadbasket. Going down the BRP into NC will change that....I hope.
Cause I'm not good enough to do this with just words!
PM sent - have a safe trip.
Setting a blistering pace again today....146 miles!
Out of WV to Meadows of Dan VA for the night.
Planned on camping here, but weather forecast looking wet....and nobody here but me...I sprang for this!
Let it rain!
A pic that everybody has to take.....
And this one....
I'll be hanging around here tomorrow, meeting up with a cousin and his wife for dinner. Maybe catch some tunes at the Floyd Country Store.
Will have to start doing some bigger mileage days.... but damn it looks wet where I'm headed!!!
Hope it stops raining soon!!!!
It's going to dry out and cool off on Monday. Have a good ride!
I'm holding you accountable if it doesn't!!!
Saturday mornin' porch-sittin' and rockin'.....watching the locals come and go.
I've been watching the forecast closely since I'm planning a trip to the Smoky Mtn area myself. Weather will be crap through Sunday then get nice. Cool and dry early next week so I will have to bring some cold weather riding gear. I thought I was done with that for the year. Of course when you get down near N.O. it will be hot and muggy.
When you need 'cold weather riding gear' might be close to my comfort level!!!
Have a good trip!
Sooo....after I got done porch sittin' Sat morning, Headed back to the campground. Sat and talked with Will about bikes and riding for awhile....and watched it rain as predicted. Cuz called and plans were made for later.
It wasn't Bluegrass, but they were good. Getting hungry so headed here.
A place started in 1927 and still going. Food is served family style....meaning they bring dishes and plates full of sides and meats to the table. Just like at home!
Slow weekend at Willville.
I've been to a few rallies here, ST-Owners and Twin Valley Rally, everybody always had a good time!
Rain subsided this morning, wet roads but never rained!
South on the BRP, to Little Switzerland.
I'd call this LOW cloud cover!!!
Pulled in to the Switzerland Inn, got a room in the Diamondback area....common TV room and 8 separate bedrooms....and covered bike parking!
Except for the flock of old hens cackling while I ate in the Pub.
Worse than a bunch of 3 year olds.
Couple pics from today.
Weather conditions at the top....
Lots of blanks to fill in here...this is to keep your attention!!!
At the Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge for the night.
Hey - the old ST1300 is looking good - very similar to the one I have in my garage. Gear driven cams are pure music. Any CCC camps in the area?
No CCC camps that I've seen.
Some decent falls....and lots of mountain tops!!!
I stayed in Diamondback last May on the way home from my MABDR - LOL. Good restaurant in the inn as well. Making your way south and the weather looks a heck of a lot better than the crap we're enduring back here in New England right now. Enjoy George!
@Dualsport Chic ...Let's not talk about the weather....or it will get crappy again!
Same as last year...when I call home, she says ' It's raining again'.
Today was dry....and cool enough to be very comfy with gear on. I know it won't last and soon enough I'll be 'fried, broiled, steamed.....
Great pictures so far. I'll be following along.
