The monster is Mishipshu, or the underwater panther to the Anishinaabe. Getting that photo without falling off the rocks is fun, eh?

Dude, don't tell me you missed the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Museum in the Soo.

When I was a young archaeology student I worked on analyzing metal artifacts excavated from the original Ft. William in Thunder Bay. A railroad yard was laid over the original fort site so not much to see there unless you like RR tracks. I visited the fort several times and thought it was okay but that was many years ago.
I've ridden around the lake 4 times and can tell you there is a lot to see and do, like the shipwreck museum in Michigan that contains the bell from the Edmund Fitzgerald.

    Great ride report, Medic !

The G/F and I did a similar route thru Ontario last July. Seen a bear and moose on the way to WaWa . The big lake was not as wavy for us and was able to get pics of the pictographs. As you did ,we as well spent the better part of a day at the locks . Got to see 5 freighters go thru.
