Looking for a sub $5k rig, around the mid-west area. Im on the border of MN/WI near twin cities and cant travel too far (kids/covid/work).

Got lots of experience with old goldwings, so not opposed to something based on that. Wife asks for it to be aesthetically pleasing (so im thinking a hard pass on Vetter terraplanes :) )

Just putting it out there if anyone has any leads.

If you are going to keep the bike and ride it in the rain, snow, woods (the later 2 being the really fun times to ride a Ural) buy the bike YOU want, strip the tins and sidecar off it, and give the fenders and below the tub a good undercoat and then top coat it whatever color the missus wants. The fenders and tub can be taken off in a couple of hours. Trust me, the factory paint is still seriously suspect on these.

    Hey XPatriot
This is a really great idea and I just emailed the guy in Pittsburgh with the 2018. I never thought of painting it or even wrapping it to look like the new Geo Limited Edition.

Thanks for the suggestion and I hope I can find one or I might have to take Drones advice and move out west.

I hope you’ll get better answer that I did with this guy!! (Marketing 101 ).

“No I don't know when it was made.
I will look at the ID tag tomorrow and see if it has a date.

No it does not come with any mounts.
It was attached to a KLR but they sell mounts for most any bke online.

Like the ad says - it has no rust.

You should do a Google search for more info.

Of course you can come see it. The question is when do you want to?”

DMC was selling these for a while... they should have all the details you need.

No contact with the owner to let us have a crack at it first?

First view of the sidecar upholstery looked like a slotted windscreen in 'Mad Max' style!

    Never noticed that.
Sucha rare machine here it makes me think.
But be a shame for me to own something so shiny.
    The gloss would go quick.

For a 21yr old rig it looks great.
Probably burn more fuel than a new 4WD but a nice rig.[/QUOTE]

That is a nice looking Valk rig. I love my 1999 Interstate but you are correct. Fuel mileage does leave a bit to be desired.

This is a question for the sidecar designers/builders: it appears the front wheel on the Valkyrie above has been extended forward further than most leading link rigs. Almost a negative trail. While it might just be the camera angle, is it possible to push the front wheel out too far? If so, what is the ideal setting for reducing trail to ease the steering?

Can confirm poor gas mileage. My Valk with fully loaded Escort just going down a quite, flat 2 lane highway MIGHT get 24-25 mpg. In the more picturesque (hills, mountains, curves) 16 to 20 at timid speed and maneuvering. Remote tank holds additional 3 gallons plus a gallon in the bags.

Wow. I drive an R90/6/Ural rig. Just carrying me, no cargo or passengers, and that's all I get.
Edit: at least mine is averaging 25 ish mpg.
