They ran the last race on Saturday. We saw them heading out when we were waiting to do the parade laps. I saw them racing last year. I snapped a closeup pic of one in the paddock but it came out all blurry.

I’ve been wanting to drive down for this from the Huntsville area for a few years now. Something always kills the plan. I didn’t think I could see enough on crutches, so I live vicariously through other people’s posts.

Win, you lucked out on the rain. We left the park about 4:30 Saturday and hit a lot of rain on I65 maybe half way to Huntsville then it started again as we got on 565.

Hoping to go again next year with my son and son-in-law, both ride too.

Hopefully I'll see you there next year.

I plan on doing some rides up into Tennessee the next couple of months. Are you interested in meeting for lunch somewhere?

Here's the video of Harvie's last ride. He was known as Springer on the Bamarides and Motorcycle Alabama forums and RedClayRider here on ADV.

That is a great tribute. What great friends to have. He must have been a fine person. Too bad I never met him.

If you'd met him, you'd never forget him.

    He certainly was a character.

Since my ride on the track on Saturday I have been feeling the "Need for Speed". So when I made plans to meet @staticPort for lunch in Lynchburg I decided to take the Versys which has been feeling neglected this year. My plan was to take 65 through Paint Rock Valley and have some fun in the curves:ricky:ricky:ricky

Well, when I got to 65 there were some construction barriers across the road and a road closed to through traffic sign:dirtdog What's up with that! Didn't they get the memo that I was coming!

So I backtracked and took an alternate route. I went up through New Market which is also a nice ride but not as curvy. To be honest I was feeling pretty mellow and just cruised at an easy pace.

It was a pretty day and not hot. I didn't even wear my mesh jacket.

I took a break by the Elk River.

I met @staticPort in Lynchburg and we had lunch at the Barrel House. We talked aviation and bikes for quite a while before heading out. A couple of pics in Lynchburg.

We headed east together for a bit before splitting up and going separate ways.

A few more pics on the ride home.

This was the bridge I took a pic of earlier in the day.

There were some signs of leaves starting to change colors but that normally doesn't happen until very late October and into November. Hopefully the drought we have been in won't ruin the fall leaf season.

It was indeed a beautiful day to ride! And an enjoyable lunch and conversation. We are fortunate to have so many wonderful roads hereabouts. Thank you Klavator for this great thread!

Thank you for riding over and meeting me for lunch. I enjoyed the conversation. Hopefully we'll have the chance to get together again in the future.

Less than 2 weeks ago temps were in the mid 90s. This morning it was in the 40s as I got on the road and it stayed pretty cold until mid afternoon. I never did take off any layers, I just switched to lighter gloves.

I started off by heading East and then 65 through Paint Rock Valley. Other than being cold it was a gorgeous day.

I took a little detour on CR27 which is a narrow, rough but scenic little road.

I headed towards Sewannee. As I went up in elevation I did see some fall colors starting to come out.

After Sewannee and Monteagle I headed down some roads I had never been on before in search of the Middle Tennessee Tag. I eventually found it. Not a real exciting picture. I took it with my phone so I could immediately post it. Despite being out in the boonies I had 4Gs and had no problems posting the pic.

This was down a very easy hard pack dirt/gravel road. I decided to head West and find a good place to put the new tag. I took 50 to Lynchburg where I picked up 129. I stopped in Petersburg to take these next two pics.

After Petersburg I continued on 129 to Delina Road. Then I decided to explore a road I had never ridden before.

I rode in a big circle and ended up back in Petersburg. I rode to Delina before heading South and West. I rode back into some pretty curvy, steep and rough back roads where I place the tag.

I think this was still on 129 or Delina road.

    .

There was virtually no traffic on these roads.

    Getting close to the tag.

This is the new tag. It's really in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by interesting roads.

This was my first time participating in the Middle Tennessee tag game but it's a great area to ride so it probably won't be my last.

Total mileage for the day was around 285.

I was really saddened to read this morning that Jerry passed away last night:2cry I am glad for the time I did get to spend with him over the last several years. We met through this forum. I met him several times at the Sunday morning breakfast club at Deal's Gap and we rode together several times.
