I'm heading out for Georgia in the morning. On Wednesday we'll be meeting friends at Deal's Gap at 10. I may post a few phone pics but the ride report won't get done until after I get home.

I'm looking forward to riding the Versys on some nice twisties. After mostly riding scooters the first half of the year I'm finally getting some motorcycle time.:ricky:ricky

I'm back from my trip. A little background before I get started on the ride report.

A few weeks ago I planned on riding to N. Georgia to visit Steve and also deliver a used shock for his Vespa that he had bought at Midway Cycles and I had picked up for him. That trip was cancelled after a Hurricane had the bad manners to ruin the weather forecast for that time.

The nice thing about being retired is that it's easy to cancel a trip and wait for better weather. That better weather came along this week. I hadn't taken a trip on the Versys in a long time and there was just enough rubber left on the rear tire to do a four day trip.

I got on the road Tuesday morning, the day after Labor Day. As I was riding through Huntsville I was passed by an unusual vehicle so I sped up, followed it for a while and took a pic.

I knew what it was since there's a dealer in Huntsville but this is only the second one I have seen on the road. Anyone know what it is?

Only seen them in pics and the name escapes me. Hope it was a great trip. I’m going to make some popcorn.

I followed the vehicle to a gas station where we both filled up. A guy also filling up was absolutely amazed when he saw it and took a pic.

I continued on through Scottsboro. I crossed the Tennessee River on 35 and planned on going up 40 but the eastbound lane was closed for tree trimming. So I had to detour up 35 where I stopped at a scenic overlook.

I ended up on a county road where the houses to the left were on a bluff with a view at least as good as the one in the pic above. It wasn't long before I was back on my planned route. I took a break at a small park in Valley Head.

I can see why the bears like this spot although I didn't see any.

I crossed into Georgia and before long I was on some fun and scenic roads.

Took this pic in Lafayette, Ga.

That was the last pic of the day. I arrived at Steve's place a few minuted later. Steve installed the new shock on his Vespa with me helping a small amount but mostly watching.

On Wednesday we had a mission so we where up and on the road early.

    Fog on Lake Blue Ridge.

It's easy to forget that some people still have to get up and go to work:D

It was cold enough that I had my rain jacket and pants on.

We stopped at the rest stop in Andrews, NC.

Our destination was the Deal's Gap Motorcycle Resort where we planned to meet some friends. We got there early so we started a run through the dragon. We were having a good run but aroun half way through I saw out friends coming the other way so as soon as there was a good spot I turned around. Steve was having too good of a time so he continued on:ricky:ricky

Eventually we all met up at Deal's Gap.

    This is Mark and Dawn.

Mark was one of the two T Max riders we rode with a couple of years ago. Then we saw Mark again and met his wife Dawn at the Maxiscoots rally in Scottsboro a couple of years ago. They were down for a week staying in a rented RV and riding around.

We talked for awhile and then headed out:ricky:ricky

    We rode 28 to Franklin. It's a great road:ricky:ricky:ricky

Lunch at the Sunset Restaurant in Franklin.

After lunch we rode Wayah Road. I got my act together and took some pics.

Wayah road is a long road that changes in character several times. The only constant is that the whole thing has a lot of CURVES!!

We came up behind this lady and her dog riding along.

They soon pulled off and we picked up the pace.

We stopped and took a break at the end of Wayah Road.

Eventually we decided it was getting late and we still had a long way to go. Steve decided to head home. I wanted to show Mark and Dawn some interesting roads on the way to Deal's Gap.

Great pics as usual Win. Wish I could be there riding those roads. Saw the complete Vanderhall line up at the Daytona test rides in March before I had to hightail it home. To me they are the answer to a question nobody asked. Couldn't give me one and the prices are outrageous.

I talked with Mark and Dawn for a while. Pretty good crowd for mid week.

I also checked out some fun looking bikes.

The Benelli TNT135 may be the hottest of the tiny bikes, at least in stock form.

The guy riding the Monkey Bike said it was a real dog but still a blast to ride.

There was also a gal on a CSC San Gabriel 250 there but I neglected to get a pic. She said it was her first bike and really liked it.

I wanted to get off the road by dark as did Mark so we said goodbye. Mark And Dawn are retiring at the end of the year so hopefully we'll be able to get together next year.

    Interesting sky.

Not looking so good passing through Murphy.

I rode into a pretty good shower and stopped and put on my rain jacket. I rode through it before my legs got really wet. By the time I got back to Steve's place I had ridden over 300 miles.

That Benelli sure looks interesting. I don't think I will get to see one in the flesh as there is no dealer anywhere near me and not sure if they even are imported into Canada.

The Vanderhall is competition for the Slingshot which seems to becoming pretty popular. I'm not interested replacing in my two wheelers with anything that doesn't lean but three wheelers of all kind are becoming more popular.

I saw one at a dealer last year and sat on it. Much better fit than the Grom for me. 135cc, four valve head and 5 speeds. @The Virginian has one that looks really great. Check out his thread in battle Scooters or watch his video review:

Great pics, looks like fun! Is that Steve’s big V? He keeps his bikes nice and clean.
