The weather forecast for this weekend just changed and its looking good for Saturday 11/14. I'm planning on setting up a ride, probably dual sport, for Saturday. I'm going to wait a day just to make sure the weather report doesn't change again.

This is Alabama, if you don't like the weather, wait an hour or so and it will change.

I'm going to join one of your rides soon. If all goes as planned I'll be picking up a 2020 WR250R this weekend. Test rode a 450L, and although its an amazing machine, it's way too much for what I want. It truly is a race bike with lights. Anyway, I've started my "small" bike collection. Inspired by you. Maybe a Honda Monkey sometime in the future.

    That would be great!

Start thinking about March Moto Madness next year. It's usually the last weekend in march and I am planning on going. A group of us will be at CMTC weekend that weekend although we may not attend the actual event.

If you get the Monkey then think about the Maggie Valley Beat the Heat Scooter ride which will be next July or August.

I got a couple of shots of Huntsville while on a grocery store run yesterday.

While it is pretty here, we never got the spectacular colors that I saw in Tennessee. It seems like we went for waiting for the colors to change to past peak without ever getting to peak colors:dunno

I was afraid that the colors in Tennessee for the Saturday dual sport ride would also be past peak.

It was mid 40s this morning when I headed off for Fayetteville, TN where I was expecting to meet 5 other riders for a dual sport/adventure ride today. I was expecting to be cold and as soon as I pulled out of my driveway I felt the cold coming through my jacket:vardy

    Uh oh this wasn't good.

So I stopped and closed the vents on my jacket:D

I was fine after that. I arrived at the meeting spot about an hour later. Soon other bikes started showing up. An unexpected rider showed up but another posted that he had a dead battery and wouldn't be coming.

So there were 6 of us.

We were looking at @mixfixdave 's Buell. Someone mentioned that they heard belt drives could get rocks between the belt and pulleys and have problems. Dave said he never had a problem and that he still had the original belt with over 34K miles on it.

We headed out. It was four lane for a few miles before we got off on a fun two lane.

We stopped to check out this bridge.

And then a few miles later we stopped at another bridge.

Many of the trees had lost their leaves. It was nothing like the brilliant colors I had on Monday.

It was still a nice ride.

I snapped this next one while riding. If I was by myself I would have stopped and taken some pics from this spot. I was really happy it turned out.

We made a couple of turns. A bit after one of them Klaus pulled beside me so I pulled over. The others were not behind him:dunno

    Oh Oh!

    So we went back.

Remember that belt on Dave's Buell with over 34K on it? It wasn't going to make it to 35K:dunno

When he pulled away from a stop it just snapped.

Dave claimed he jinxed himself when he talked about the belt earlier.

We were only a couple of miles from the Pritchard's Distillery. What better place to go and get some relief from this situation:freaky

So we had the smallest bike in the group towing the biggest:scratch

A shot of @El Vulch and his new KTM790.

We got to the distillery and parked. Now we needed a plan. @TheSweeper to the rescue. He had hauled his bike to Fayetteville and his truck and trailer were in the Wally World parking lot and that was only 8 miles away.

Now we had been riding for an hour or so. How were we only 8 miles from our starting point???

Ride with me sometime and you will see why:lol3

The plan was for Dave to ride bitch to the truck and drive it back. Then he would drive home, unload his broken bike, load his good bike, return to Wally World, unload his good bike and leave the truck there and ride home.

Getting ready for the ride of shame:D

There was no reason for all of us to ride to Fayetteville and back. Rich, John and I hung out at the distillery. We went inside. It was quite a cool place. The owner is 81 and still actively involved in running the place as is his wife. The building used to be a school.

Lunch was at the Barrel House BBQ. We took advantage of the outside seating.

While we were eating there was a long rumble of Harleys.

Then it was time to ride some more. Klaus had to head for home to fix a water leak. Bummer!

The four of us headed out.

I wanted to explore some roads that looked interesting on the map but I hadn't ridden. After a few stops to figure out where we were and some U turns we found them. We ended up at this cool spot.

    Epic water crossing?

    Not quite.

    The view looking back.

The name of this road is "Old Dam Road". I figure that either there used to be a dam here or the locals were fed up with the poor condition of the road and just called it that "old damn road" :lol3
It was "paved" but it was way rougher than any gravel road we did that day. It had huge potholes and ruts and much of the pavement was gone.

Another shot by the Elk River.

    More fun roads.

I had ridden these with @Thinwater several weeks ago. That didn't mean I really knew where we were:D

I had Rich take off first to get a shot with this splash of color.

John was having fun in the rough terrain.

    Maybe too much fun?

I thought I'd catch him going down again but he surprised me with this:
