On Saturday we drove to FWB and Shalimar for the Memorial Service and a reception afterwards. Driving around there did not give me the negative vibes I got in Pensacola. The area doesn't seem to have changed that much.

Since Debbi's Dad retired from the Air Force they had a military honor detail at the service. Debbi's brother who is also retired Air Force even wore his uniform. I still have some of my old uniforms but they would need alteration for me to fit into them!

    Just a few pics.

    Give Debbie my condolences, Win.

Hopefully I'll actually be able to make it out to one of the rides soon. Or maybe we can arrange another MA dinner in the Huntsville area soon so @VCole can come along as well.

I'm planning on doing a dual sport ride Saturday. I posted it on MA and the regional forum.

Another MA dinner sounds like a good idea as well. Maybe I'll do one on a Friday night sometime.

My condolences to Debbi, her family, and to you Win.

I find myself headed back to the east coast for the same reason... Mrs. B8’s aunt recently passed away...

I saw that on Sam's thread. My condolences. Are you driving, riding or flying this time?

Enjoy the drive! If by some chance you will be coming near Huntsville, remember I do have a guest room and you are welcome to stay here.

Win and Rudy; condolences to both of your wives on the loss of family members. Unfortunately we are all "of an age" when these events become more frequent. Stay safe and healthy both of you and your families.

I posted a dual sport ride for today and we ended up with 7 riders this morning in Fayetteville.

Everyone commented on how cold it was this morning. I think it was mid 50s which is very unusual for Memorial day weekend. Typically we have summer conditions by now. We had a cold front come through yesterday. It dumped a lot of rain as well as dropping the temperatures from the 90s we had much of the week. The route for today would include a lot of gravel roads. I wouldn't lead a group ride in this area in dry conditions because of all the dust. I figured it would be fine today.

We started of on some paved roads.

We stopped underneath this bridge. There were some other people there today so we didn't hang around long.

Soon we were on gravel roads and came to another bridge.

The road on the other side of the bridge was mostly washed out.

I didn't take nearly as many pics today as I normally do. Most of the roads were pretty curvy and I was busy riding. I did take a few over the shoulder shots. Normally @2372ighost is right behind me but today @El Vulch was filling in for him.

This car has been parked here every time I have come by for years now.

We got to Lynchburg shortly after 11 and had an early lunch to beat the crowds we expected here. This was the Barrel House BBQ.

I was happy with the food and service.

Someone was making use of @El Vulch 's jacket while he was eating.

Interesting place for a road sign.

It was an interesting road as well.

We rode the Old Dam road down to the Elk river and took a break. After that we back tracked and then decided to check out a dead end road.

This road was one lane wide and it felt like we were riding down someone's driveway. At the end of the road were two houses that probably had a great view of the Elk River. We turned around.

    It was a fun road.

    Another scenic view.

    A not so scenic view:D

A few of us got off the road to play around a bit in some deep, loose rocks.

The big KTM would spin it's rear tire and dig into the rocks.

Many of the roads in this area had names ending in Ridge, Creek or Hollow. This was one of the ridge roads:

    We stopped at Pritchards Distillery.

It was closed but a lady came out and asked if we wanted a tour?

We took her up on it.

A few left with more weight on their bikes or in their backpacks.

After that we split up and headed for home. I ended up with a little over 200 miles. I'm sure @mojo1 had double that!

I drove down to Max Motorsports today to pick up my Like. Mathew told me that after reading the codes and checking a bunch of stuff he thought the battery was the problem and replaced it. There is no way I would have suspected a battery issue and am still not convinced that was the problem. Before picking it up I rode around for 46 miles in various conditions and it ran fine so maybe the problem is fixed?

They had two new 2019 Like 150i's in crates.

These had a feature I haven't seen before on these scooters.

    Standard factory luggage racks.

They also had two new Spades.

Barber small bore is next weekend. There's still time to pick up a suitable bike!

I really liked this white Vespa GTS.

I could see one of these in my future.

If anyone is looking for a well set up dual sport bike this DR650 was in the showroom.

I didn't get any details on this bike but it sure looked well set up. Another angle:

Assuming my Like doesn't start misbehaving I plan on taking it down to Barber on Saturday for the small bore event.

I'll be heading down to Barber in the Morning for the Barber small bore. I walked out to the garage to get some stuff ready for tomorrow and......

I ran back in the house and told Debbi she needed to come outside. Unfortunately it started to disappear pretty quickly so Debbi suggested we get in the car and drive a short way for a better view. I thought we were too late but....

I'm looking forward to tomorrow. There should be a lot of craziness with a bunch of people on tiny bikes doing stupid things:lol3
