That stinks, especially on a new bike. Love your attitude though
Luckily he was able to sort things out and do the ride with us
It was great to meet some new people. Greg, Rich, and I rode some backroads up to meet a friend of mine, Robert, in Crane Hill. He had the Ducati. We rode some new to me roads with only a couple of missed turns. We returned to B'ham by way of Jasper and Sipsey. I did a total of 250 miles.
I forgot how much fun it is to change a tire so I replaced the rear tire on my KLX this morning. I put another Dunlop 605 on as I have been happy with that tire. The one I replaced had over 3600 miles on it. I could have stretched it to 4000 miles but I'll be heading for Maggie Valley on Sunday for three days of riding on Monday - Wednesday. I just looked at the weather forecast for the days we will be there. Highs between 71 and 74 and lows in the 50s. Keep in mind that this is July in the south.
Hate that I’m missing this one! Got my dad moved yesterday and will be chasing issues for a bit to help him settle. Y’all be safe and have a great time.
We'll be going back to MV the second week in August. It's not too late for you to get a scooter and come join us
I think I might have found a scooter that would work for me.
I did the same this week, front and rear, for our impending ride in MV.
Based on a changing weather forecast we have changed our Maggie Valley trip to Mon - Fri. We'll be riding T, W & TH. Maybe a short ride on Monday early evening.
I had a good time checking out the area at the top of Black Camp Gap rd., on the Cherokee end of Maggie. Pretty good riding up there.
After my meltdown last Saturday, I decided to make lemonade.
That wiring harness could have been worse. One of the riders in the Scooter Cannonball is someone Rich and I spent some time with last year in Maggie Valley. Her Vespa's wiring harness melted and she's out of the race.
Yea, the rough roads have played havic with the scoots on the cannonball.
Are there any good videos being uploaded from the scb? They’re having a little trouble with vids on YouTube. I know the riders are busy and I look forward to vids afterwards. I have been keeping up with the live tracking on the scb webpage.
Some of the riders made videos leading up to the Cannonball but if they are riding they are too busy to be editing and posting videos. I'd expect some in a couple of weeks.
After following this race I start thinking it would be really cool to do this......then reality sets in and I think about riding 10 long days on a small scooter. On the other hand if these guys can do 4500 miles in ten days on small scooter then I should be able to take off for 5 or more days on my Like and do 200-300 miles per day on an easy tour Maybe I'll do a tour on my Like in September. First I need to make sure it survives 4 days in Maggie Valley in August. That will be around 200 miles per day of really twisty roads
Exhaust came loose letting hot air hit harness.
I caught up this morning on @DaBinChe 's thread and holy shit!!! Not only did he complete a 526 mile day with lot of dirt but he slept (barely) in an abandoned motel the night before and then had a crash during the day. Talk about a long, rough day!! He's still in second place on his Super Cub.
Thanks for sharing link. I would have never seen it. He is great!
Made it to Maggie Valley. Don't think we'll be riding today.
