What an EPIC ride!! I'm jealous!
Then to top it off, you end it at the Gun range! Dang it!!!!
What’s a comfy highway cruising speed for that 300 Vespa?
I don't have much experience with 300 Vespas. Steve's Vespa 250 GTV tops out around 75 MPH (GPS) but he prefers to stay off highways. The 300 doesn't have any more horsepower than the older 250s except for the new 300 HPE. I know a lot of people do ride them on interstate highways. My old Aprilia 250 which used the same motor as the Vespa would easily cruise at 70+.
I concur with everything Rocketman Win has posted. It's was an 8-9 trip with the only negatives being the Like's early hick up, the so-so NC brisket I had and the motel's need of some TLC. The riding was a 10 no doubt! The Vespa 250 never felt without enough power. I could pass any slower traffic even thought I had to pick the spots and it felt so good in the tight twisties.
My next posts will be just a dump of additional photos. Win deserves some showtime! He's Bad! LOL!
Stella!!! My Scooter is broke!!! devildog
Win busting a move aka Dirty Dancing style!
I can't believe I ate that entire Oktoberfest Platter? I had to walk away from half of my second mug of fine Spaten Amber Marzen straight from Munich. It's was all awesome but at a cost. LOL! Great trip Win! Like Rich I'm ready for some Team Green Dual Sporting!
Thanks for all the pics
The long term weather forecast looks great for Tellico and some Team Green Dual Sporting
The Like is a pretty scoot, but I like the Vespa too. The increased power of a Vespa 250/300 would be nice when you need it.
This one is pretty sporty looking... Is there storage in the front fairing/nacelle and under the seat?
Do the Harley guys wave back? I would be sure to wave at all of them.
The scooters do get a lot of attention, especially Steve's Vespa. Steve kept pointing out how his Vespa had more power when we hit a steep hill or needed to pass and he was right about that but there is something about a really small, sub 300 pound bike that a bigger bike just can't match. A 150 just feels more like a toy and we all know that toys are so much fun to play with. Years ago I had a Kymco Super 8 150 and an Aprillia Sport City 250 which used the same motor as the Vespa. The Aprillia was much faster than the 150 but it was also bigger and about 70 or 80 pounds heavier. When I walked out to the garage it was the little Kymco that called my name and was the one I rode the most. Now I have the Like and a Majesty 400 and a couple of motorcycles but I ride the Kymco more often than all the others combined.
Someday I'd like to get a Vespa but I'll probably always also have a tiny scooter.
Storage. Both scooters have underseat storage but not big enough for a full face helmet. For this trip Steve packed all his stuff under his seat and in his tail box. I put my stuff under the seat and in a dry bag on the seat which left my tail box mostly empty. My Like has a little glove box in the front fairing. Steve's Vespa looks like it should have a glove box as well but I don't think it does
The Vespa is Liquid cooled so the radiator is under the front fairing. The Kymco is air cooled.
As for Harley riders, most seem to wave back.
It was pretty there. May 4, 2019. Last pic taken of my baby. Trip ended ~5 miles NE shortly after on way back to Marion, NC.
Hard to like that post because I know how that day turned out for you.
Last pic taken of my baby tipped me off it wasn't good, not knowing the story. It was a nice looking bike.
Well dang.. I did not know the story and didn't pay attention to the written word.. meant no disrespect. To be fair, I like anything that includes a picture as anyone that goes to the trouble of uploading a file deserves a thumps up.
What did you do?
Don I like just about every post someone puts a picture they took themselves in, I don’t think it was disrespectful. It’s a nice picture I couldn’t like the last time part figuring something bad happened, but I like the picture. It was 50/50
Nothing this time, that I know of
No disrespect taken. She was a fun ride. Sightseeing, looked right drifted right, right off the road. End of my 2000 mile road trip. Resulted in 9 broken ribs, collarbone, shoulder blade, punctured lung. Remember first painful ambulance ride, woke up 5 days later intubated in Asheville ICU. Used up 8 of my 9 lives.
Hang in there!
Holy crow! ..glad you only used 8, be careful with that last one!
