Had to retread the match. I'm still not clear on the cheating. 27-7 shots on goal would tell me who should have one that match.
Remember when Waumbach counted out to the ref. how long the Canadian goalie held the ball ? Then the ref. gave a ridiculous penalty ? I use 'cheating' in the aspect of sportsmanship. The U.S. certainly were not sportsmen that day...to me that was cheating...j.f.
The goalie had already been warned though for time wastage. Poor sportsmanship? Eh. If I am not mistaken, excessive time wastage is against the rules, ergo a foul/penalty. Edited to add, good on Canada!

NFL teams do it every time a field goal is about to be taken. Give the kicker time to OVERthink about what hes doing. and throw him off. I was a kicker, and I HATED that. I was explaining this to my wife and kids. they were REALLY into the match, it was fun, (read: aggravating) to watch. I said: "gloves will make NO difference in a penalty shot shes just bein' cheeky" :)
That's exactly why the U.S will never understand footie ! You try that 'trick' in any stadium in Europe and you would have a field invasion !...j.f.
Oh well that's it for the 'Canuckettes' then. Tried hard but the German machine held out. Looking forward to Sweden beating them in the final even though the Swedes play a defence first style...j.f.
