Warm enough today to take the bike for a little spin through The Great (Frozen) Swamp and check everything still works: DSC_1235_zpsype89bmv.JPG

Watched a documentary on PBS recently about the efforts 50 years ago to stop the Port Authority filling it in to make a 4th major airport for NJ/NY to cope with the "new" jet traffic; there's a trailer here. Not the most gripping documentary, but lots of local archival photos, film, and good background as to why we still have a Great Swamp. Worth a look if it crops up on your local PBS station.

Nice trailer. Did you order the Blue-Ray or DVD? Can I borrow it?:-)

Actually, would have been great to have an international airport just 15 minutes from our house! With jets flying over at a couple of hundred feet. But it would have gotten rid of those damn bicyclists who infest the place on sunny days! :lol2

Sorry, I had it on the DVR, it was broadcast on WNET a couple of weeks ago; look for it on one of the local PBS stations.

I'm OK with having an international airport 20 minutes away and the Great Swamp 5 minutes over the ridge in the other direction.:thumb

Cyclists aren't the only thing to watch for on sunny days:

Hey, what the heck is going on outside? 5 inches of new snow? We just got rid of all the salt! And I just took the snows off the Fit!
And it's going to be 70 degrees on Wednesday!

Pretty hard to believe February day.

Took VF # 2 out for a spin-- first time since early December.

Due to a concatenation of circumstances (senility, contrary to what my wife maintains, not being one of them) I find myself with three of these: two (doesn't matter which two) are for sale for any discerning buyers :D

In 1984 we stripped one of those down in Iwakuni Japan and shipped it home to Ohio piece by piece and reassembled it. Great Bike!

I sort of miss my big heavy and very nice to ride VF1000F. Thing sounded great with those SuperTrapp's with 20 disc's and open end caps! BBBBBBRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPP!

How long did it take you to put it back together? I just totally disassembled a parts bike I bought, down to almost molecular level: and one of the thoughts I had was that it was extremely tight packaging and I wouldn't want to have to put it back together :lol3

And Chris-- yeah, it's both a surprisingly heavy, yet very nice to ride, bike. Probably because of the road-hugging weight :lol3

It was more determined by the FPO. It took ~3 months from start to finish! Note to self: I wouldn't wanna do that ever again!!!

    Complete disassembly is always risky.

    Even on the little bikes.

But it's a real sense of accomplishment when it all goes back together

I got a sense of accomplishment just getting the VF parts bike apart and only having to resort to the angle grinder twice :lol3

I got a sense of accomplishment cleaning out my locker in the O.R. this week! And taking some of the stuff home from the office.
Anyone want some old white, slightly bloodied berkies? Or some design-for-vision loops? Or a custom British racing green lead apron?
How about the "grabbers" used on the 1st laparoscopic gallbladder done at Muhlenberg? Might be useful in fishing out nuts fallen into the engine. :-)

So, anyone ready for a 4 week road trip across the country?
