So my buddy, Rob @rjnutt and I have been doing these Adventure rides to locations where we can watch a motorcycle race and then ride back home. Its been a ton of fun. We get some adventure riding in and watch a good race event and ride home again. Okay so for the Las Vegas super-cross race in October 2018 we decided we would make this a ride. My wife and I had a wedding anniversary on the same dates for the race, so she was kind enough to allow me to go but on the condition she would drive down and meet in Vegas and watch the race with us. Ok deal! So tickets where bought and hotel room booked and a adventure route was planned. I did a oil change and service on my bike and started packing for the trip.

    packed ready to go
    [IMG]

We decided on a route that would take us two and a half days to get down to vegas. So we left early Thursday morning it was cool and crisp.

It started spitting rain as we approached Mono Lake. As we approached Dobbie Meadows road, I was in a hurry, watching my gps so I didnt pass said turn off, and just plain stupid. So this trifecta amounted to me diving off the road right in front of an on coming car, because I didnt want to pass the turn or slow down, and promptly low siding my bike as I left the pavement and hit the dirt. It happened so fast I didnt have time to even get scared. Thankfully no harm to me or the bike other than I had to straighten my bars a bit. My good buddy Robbie, always concerned for my safety, wisely waited for the car to pass then turned off the road and rode by me laughing and pulled his camera out to commemorate the moment.
You can see it looks like I was going too fast and grabbed too much front brake...Stupid

We headed east on hwy 120 into Benton then south on Yellow Jacket rd

We stopped at some of the petroglyphs along fish slough road heading south toward Bishop.

Dropped out on the north end of Bishop then hit Poleta and East Side road south towards Big Pine
    [IMG]

This road got real rutty and moon dusty and was actually a bit treacherous. In some parts it had a built up side road that we bailed out on but only for a bit then it disappeared

After fuel and food it was after 4pm. I said I had enough excitement for one day and voted to call it a successful day. Because I knew that if we pushed on we would ride till dark then set up camp in some sand wash on Saline Valley rd in the dark and that didn't sound fun. So after some smart comments about my masculinity Rob agreed and we hit the camp ground at the 395 & 168 intersection. Glacier View CG has toilets and showers FYI
    [IMG]
After tents got pitched we checked in with home and talked about the day. I brewed a cup of coffee on my new Ti alcohol stove
    [IMG]
Rob modeled the newest in ADV under layer fashion
    [IMG]
That was day one....... 240 miles Gardnerville to Big Pine. We talked a bit then hit the sack. Tomorrow would be another long day of great riding through Death Valley

Im going to be honest the ride out to the Butte is worth it and fun and scenic. However once you pass the butte the road all way out to West Side Rd is rough, crappy, long, and just not fun. We did see a herd of jackasses the most Ive ever seen in DV
    [IMG]

Right about here I stopped to wait for Rob and take some pics. As i slowed to a stop my front brake went soft and all the way to the bars. I look down and brake fluid is squirting all over my wind screen. A quick check and yep my front brake line had split. Great now I have no front brake!

Nothing to be done about it, back on the road out to West Side road. We came up on this mud hole and I didnt see Rob go through or how he did so I picked a line and gassed it. Fail!

It was not easy getting old Clyde up slipping in the mud but I got him up and walked him out. I am now covered in mud and so is Clyde. Rob claims he didnt see or know and just kept on riding.

So we headed over Jubilee pass and picked up Furnace creek rd towards hwy 127
We saw Tommy the Tortoise on the road. I moved him off the road
    [IMG]

Then we rode into the Garden spot of Tecopa CA. and had dinner and found a spot to camp that had toilets and showers. I got destroyed by mosquitoes at least 20+ bites
    [IMG]

    Another 230 mile day
    [IMG]

After the tents got pitched we hit the showers. It was too warm to go to bed so we sat up and talked about the day and looked at the stars. This is when I must have got attacked by skeeters.

This was my Wife's first Supercross event, and she really enjoyed it. So at the race (long story short) one guy won a money grabbing contest, which put him up for 1 million dollars if the the same rider won all three main events. The rider who wins all 3 main events also gets 1 million dollars. Eli Tomac did just that. He won all 3 main events (the first 2 he won without any competition really) the 3rd and final he won barley. Was the last race controversial? I dont think so. Any way the lucky schmuck won a million and Eli Tomac got a million. It was the best race event Ive seen in person. It was awesome.
