I mount my Garmin 62s on the handlebars of the bike and have a power feed that comes on with the headlight, so when the bike starts up, the GPS springs into life. Because it also has batteries, it stays on for 30 seconds once you turn the bike off. So far so good, but if the GPS is already running (via its batteries, or if I've stopped the bike but the headlight is still on), then when I start the bike the GPS immediately restarts, which means sitting around for a couple of minutes waiting for it to load its maps etc, and hoping it hasn't lost track of the route you just set up before you started the bike. Anyone know why it is doing this, and if it can be fixed? It's a pain to have to keep the bike running every time I stop to check something on the GPS, or waiting for the maps to reload once I've started the bike. Especially knowing that it will run perfectly happily when the bike is turned off.
