It failed installation on both of my laptops with same error message. I did see the requirements are to have your computer running 64 bits and minimum 8mg of ram. My laptops run 32 bit Windoze and one has 2mg ram and the other 4 mg ram. It would be cool to have a small map embedded in the corner of my video showing the actual tracks. I do get the other info such as altitude and speed.

    Emmbeedee,

I am going to try time lapse this weekend at the RDV Rally. What do you normally have the field of view set at? Do you also enable digital stabilizer?

    Thanks

I hate the fisheye effect so I always have the narrow view. I think if you use stabilisation, and you probably should, it automatically uses narrow view.

Thanks. I will give it a shot. My Zumo 590 connected with Virb instantly. I am going to ram mount it to my bars and run usb power as needed.

Do you have engine guards? Might be nice to mount there instead of handlebars, if that was your plan. Or move it around for variety.

The last couple of rides this year, my Virb Remote was flaky. It wasn't responding most of the time though the led was flashing. Since I couldn't remember the last time the Cr2032 button cell was changed, and I had a bunch of new ones, I changed it.

    Made no difference.

So I did a factory reset on the camera, powered up while pushing the down arrow, and said yes to the reset dialogue.

After the reset, the remote paired up quickly, as did the Tempe, and the remote now worked perfectly.

And none of the files on the sd card were affected.

So if it's not working properly, reset it. You have nothing to lose.

I had this exact problem earlier this month - the remote ‘recording’ LED was flashing but the camera wasn’t recording, which I had no way of knowing with the camera helmet mounted. It failed on my ride through Valley of the Gods - both directions. :cry

I’ll try the factory reset. :thumb

I have been following this thread. I see that the VIRB Elite is not available anymore. What is recommended in its place - VIRB 360?

I don't know of anyone who's bought anything later than the Elite. The new Virbs just don't have the same appeal to most of us. And our Elites refuse to die.

    Emmbeedee,

I had it mounted to my handlebar via ram mount. I got back last weekend and took a brief look and it looks like the time lapse setting didn't work that well for me. It played my entire recording in about 3 mins. I didn't really play with all the editing tools yet but I'd like to slow it down without losing audio.

I have good news and I have bad news. The good news is, it’s easy to slow the time lapse down to extend its duration.

The bad news is: time lapse doesn’t record audio.

PM me some editing tricks. Thx.

I will say that interface between my Zumo 590 and Virb worked flawlessly. The 590 put the control icon on a small window on the main nav screen. Perfect as I was able to simply turn video on or off or hit the snapshot icon while riding. Later during the RDV ride, I used my USB cable and powered the Virb rest of the day. No problem at all.

Good Day to all the knowledgeable people on the forum. I can get a Garmin VIRB Ultra 30 Action Camera or the Garmin VIRB X Action Camera. Which is the best camera? Waiting for your responses.

Here comes the question now: I am planning to mount it on the beak below the head light do I use and adhesive attachment or should I use nuts and bolts to fix it in position?

I am planning on attaching the device with some thin SS cable (similar to steel trace used in fishing) to prevent the camera from falling off should it ever come lose.

    Adhesive does the job.
