GPS City Canada has them advertised for pre-sale in Canada at $679.99 Can$ suggesting shipping will be around March 13

We covered that in more detail previously in this thread - pretty much just lets you use the GPS a keyboard for InReach text messages which are essentially the same features as the InReach phone app. Check out the app for all the details. Of course, it's all hearsay for the time being. You would still need an InReach and an associated data plan, etc.

I'll let people know in a few hours when my XT gets here (I also have an inReach Mini)

There's still a "+" and a "-" button on the left of the screen to zoom in and out but as it's a capacitive touchscreen you can also just use the two-fingered pinch and zoom (in or out).

I meant the actual map scale- the little line marked with a distance of its length in miles or km. Maybe less functional on a GPS but easy to see the relative scale of the map at a glance.

From what I've seen when doing research to buy something to save my ass in case of crash the inreach were more reliable with their signal so that's what I went with but honestly I don't think it's essential for you to switch if you already have a Spot as people were reporting issues with both devices and, as usual, people who have trouble with their device will complain a lot more than people who have no issue at all will praise them.

That comes down to if there is a 2d map presentation. 3d map view makes any scale worthless.

Ah, that could be it. Looks like the shots I’ve seen so far are 3D view.

Can you play/control Spotify through it (from your phone)?

It seems the answer is NO. My 595LM has Pandora and Spotify "apps"... the Zumo XT does not.

What GPS did you have that had that? I've been using Zumos for 12 years or so and I've never seen that feature.

    The Zumo XT manual
590 has it. Pretty sure my 660 and 60cx had it as well. Not sure about my eMaps.

So you can launch a SOS call right from the XT if linked to the Inreach mini?

Does the XT also have keyboard (ala Cellphone qwerty) to send text messages?

Oooh lucky you! That was fast!

What happens when you hit Browse while in Media Player - presumably changing a Media Source... does it show you only the media on device itself and/or smartphone only, right?

I have a love/hate relationship with using phones as a GPS device but what I love about phones is it's easy to pinch and zoom in/out into maps while trying to find small trails. I have found this hopeless and very slow on my BMW Navigator VI and Montana 610. Are you able to try this on the XT please? :) I just found your channel while searching for the XT on Youtube too :)

There is no longer an alternate media source it seems... Only showing the music on my phone. Would have to see if it intermixes media on the microSD card...
Regardless, no pandora/spotify... The XT manual doesn't mention it either.
