Wow, I am surprised at some of the numbers here. Me thinks some of your have compulsive wrist twitching disorders.

'07 DL650 - 54 to 56 mpg now that winters over. mid-40's in the cold. No idea why the drastic difference for cold weather. (cold = below 35F)The ride is a pretty even mix of secondary roads and slab for the daily commute, and on weekends I search out dirt and gravel roads to explore.

'08 BMW R1200R - 49.6mpg (not accounting for any factory speedo error). Trip on totally bonestock bike, approx 1200mi on odo at outset, me(190lb) with 2 Givi sidebags & attache case.

Overall results were from recent 1254mi trip I took shortly after the initial 600-mile service (actually done at 1000+mi on odo). Except for part of trip in mountains on Blue Ridge Pkwy/Skyline Drive where you can't "make time", vast majority of other roads were open so speeds would vary between 60 and 80mph. 200mi of total were in rain (70-75mph).

Interestingly for this new boxter motor, it used no more than 1oz of oil during entire trip; motor appears to be broken in much sooner than most.

'08 KLR 650 = average 51-52 mpg - no mods, shifting at low rpm, lot of 50 - 60 mph riding due to low speed zones near work. 2000 miles on the clock so far. No side bags too.

    James.

    Edit - 87 Octane
