I just completed a ride from Calgary to Port Renfrew (round trip of 3,300k). Average gas mileage was 4.7liters per 100k or less. This gives about 52 miles per us gallon. Speed was 90 to 100k. Worst mileage was blasting through the Cocohalla pass (high altitude and fricking cold) at a steady 110 to 120k. This used 7.3 liters per 100k. Basically, about 33 miles per us gallon.

For the klr, 3700 rpm seems to be the sweet spot. Here you get great mileage (55 to 60 miles per hour).
Want to go faster, you pay in gas.
