Few know me here in Trials. But this ain't my first rodeo with GasGas rumours.
I've owned 5 Gassers, been a brand loyalist for a long time.
I've stopped and discredited every rumour that I've seen for years now.

But I can't stop this one.
KTM has bought 60% of Black Toro Capital, which owns Torrot, which owns GasGas.

I guess KTM finally makes trials bikes.

I have 6 different sources confirming it now.
Two people warned me a month ago that big news was coming at the end of September.

For enduro this is a really bad since will be one less option on market.
    For trials, time will tell.

Official statement from KTM on the future of GasGas.

“It is intended that GasGas will be added alongside KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles and e-bikes as the third brand to the strong sales network of the KTM Industries Group”

No word though on what changes will be made to the bikes....

Zurich (awp) - The Austrian engine manufacturer KTM Industries strengthens its presence in Spain by concluding an industrial collaboration with Black Toro Capital, owner of the Gas Gas brand. The latter, whose financial contours have not been mentioned, will be led by the orange manufacturer. In a statement released Thursday night, KTM believes that this partnership is synonymous with a future of success for GasGas, which can develop, in addition to the trials and enduro engines that make its reputation, new models. As part of the joint venture, production of GasGas motorcycles and Torrot electric vehicles will continue in the Girona plant in Catalonia. Subject to the green light from the competition authorities, the Spanish brand will appear as the third in the group's portfolio - whose corporate name will be changed in Pierer Mobility - alongside KTM and Swedish Husqvarna, the statement said

Interesting,a company that has the money to steal Tony away from honda.Hopefully they redesign the master cylinders for the brakes a bit.not a pumpkin fan boy but glad someone came up to bat.Hope it does not go bad like there deal with Polaris. That one was a quick divorce.

Not to sure about that.GG being part of ktm is going to get quite a few ktm riders to buy a trials bike. Those ktm guys are a loyal bunch. Most I ride with are worse than old harley riders.

KTM is very calculating in their business decisions. I think what they really want, is the technology of the GG electric trials bike with a transmission and clutch. They bought Husaberg (and it's Husqvarna derived engines) in the late 90's, to jump start their 4T development. The RFS 4T engine was the result.

Plus they gain sales in the offroad market with another competitor bought out.I cannot see them loosing on this deal.Plus I would love to see them steal Tony from honda even through it won't happen lol.

Just a guess but Honda probably makes more on selling generators in a few years then Ktm is worth. Seems like Honda's financial resources are nearly limitless if they want to throw money at motorsport not many companies can match them.

That is very true.Like when they beat up harley in flat track. But they made a good decision as after they proved there point they quit.No money in flat track as no one really watches it.At least people actually google trials to watch the men from Mars do crazy stuff.

Honda quit flat track because of the AMA, not because they had made a point. But that's a different thread.

I don't think you'll see a measurable amount of KTM off-road riders jumping on a GG just because KTM holds a majority share. But I do hope it puts GG trials division on solid ground so the constant speculation of their demise can finally be put to rest.

That's just my expert internet opinion, yours may be different.
