I have a garmin etrex legend thats turns off, goes blank, has screen flutters,
and sometimes goes to nothing but a thin vertical line.
It's only a $100 GPS so, is it worth fixing?
Any idea on cost to fix? Gotta send it to garmin to fix? or??
Damned thing only made it a year:cry

    Thanx

Not true, each model has it's own garanteed repair price
    check this page:
    http://www8.garmin.com/support/outofwarranty.html

Etrex is $59, still not worth it, but not $200

If it were me, I would just chuck it and sheel out the $189 for a 2610 from the e-tailer in another thread on Advrider that so many forum members have had good luck with.

The ~$100 difference in price would be SOOOO worth it for all the benefits the 2610 offers over the legend.

Heck, I keep hoping my LegendC will die so I can do just this!!!!!

    Cheers!

Garmin doesn't repair the GPS, they just replace it with a refurbished unit, and ship the defective ones to Taiwan for "refurbishing". I sent in my dead 2610 and they sent me a unit that when turned on, the map showed its last location being in Taiwan.

Thanks for the link to the Garmin repair site. This was the information I was looking for. $225 for the NavII. I cooked it at 115 F for 8 hours.
