GP Campout staging out of Cat Creek / Old Chimney and riding trails around the Blue Lake area. The Blue Lake area is the "Milder" side of the GP. This would be an OHV ride unless someone would like to lead those with Plates on a DS ride.

    When: Aug 16-18.

    Thanks for starting the thread!

I’m not as familiar with the GP as others may be. Do we expect to see trail restrictions imposed due to fire risk at some point?

I've been wanting to ride GP for a while. It looks mega tasty.

    I'm out for August 17th-18.
The second August dates look good.

    No go for July, unfortunately.

Also, I’m totally down to bring both bikes; one trail only and the other plated.

I want to ride it all

A plated bike definitely opens up options. Lots of fun dirt FS roads to various lakes like Horseshoe, Wobbly, Takhlakh, Council.
If ya don't have a plated bike, non-plated is all ya need for a good two days of trails on the Blue Lake side.

Interested and following... I've always wanted to check that area out and this sounds like a good excuse. Now I'll just have to find a way to get some more time off in August.

As a definitely-maybe attendee I'll throw my vote in for the 24-25 weekend...

I can do 17-18, maybe show early. 2 stroker ride.

Bring bucket, shovel, axe. Assume no fires by that time, cook on a stove.

I've staged at Cat Crk before, but been some time ago. I couldn't find it on Giff P's list of campgrounds. Assume bring some $$ for camp fees.
But I don't think its a Forest Pass place unless you say otherwise.

Camped at Cat Creek last September. Room for a few RVs and several other vehicles. I don't recall a fee or need for Forest Pass. I'll call the ranger station to get more details.
About a 1/4 mile up the rode there's Old Chimney camp which is definitely free.

Sounds like fun, I've only poked around there a few times, and never gotten too deep. Either of those August Dates work for me. I'd be most interested in a non-plate bike ride.

Do us a favor and put some of that in your tank now, while it's fresh on yer mind.

Though that last "Coasting Race" back downhill to your place was kinda fun.

Talked to the Ranger. Both Cat Creek and Old Chimney are free and forest pass is not required. They're both considered dispersed camping.

Since both are first come first serve, I'm going to arrive a day or two early to secure a camp. Aug 16th-18th is the only weekend I can take off work a few days early so that'll be the target weekend.
