Anyone been there? Does the road continue on to Hudson Bay? Is the local food any good? When does black fly season open? Is there a bag limit? Do mooses bite? Or is it meese? Do I need to bring my own likker? Anyone slower, fatter and tastier want to tag along to run bear interference? Is my quarter up?

The roads are good most of the way, but straight and boring for most of it. I havent been up there for a while, but last time, the last few hundred kilometers was dirt. The dirt part is ok if it's dry, but turns into the slipperiest loon shit on earth if it rains. For the most part, gas stops shouldn't be a problem.

I don't think you have to worry about moose too much up there, the deer
population will be brutal though. Bears won't bother you, if you don't bother
    them.

Forget the firearms, they'll be more hassle at the border than it's worth.

Places to eat, and buy liquor, are available every hundred or so kilometers.
You can't drive to Hudson Bay, you would have to put the bike on the train
    at Gillam.

Really, the trip up there is pretty boring overall, lots of droning along on
flat straight road for many hours, then it starts to get more interesting
    the further north you go.

    Bring bug repellant, with DEET.

Thanks for the reply, Ron. There's something about the desolation of the far North and the end of a road on a map that calls to me. I always enjoy my trips up to Canada but can't seem to ever get excited about Mexico. I think I can get away for a week in July or August for a soul-cleansing solo moto/camping/fishing trip on the Dakar. Maybe even talk someone out of a canoe for a day.

I also started a thread on this a while back and many, including ZZR_Ron, gave me a lot of useful info. Here's the link:

I'm still planning on heading that direction this summer if the chaos dies down a bit around the last week of July --> first week of August. Maybe I'll see ya on the road!
