Was wondering the same. Early British bikes were right side shift. Makes it look all the more posed. But, probably a fair representation of the work the ladies did. Wonder if they used toe protectors to protect the shoes?

They could all tap dance back in the day, or was it heel and toe?

My mother rode despatch in WW2 for the army before being assigned other duties. Tip for protecting shoes/boots was to put extra layers of polish on at the start of the day and buff them up before going into HQ. No one cared in the field, but you didn't go into HQ improperly dressed regardless of what you had to ride through.
I was duly taught this when I got my first motorbike back in the days when it was regarded as slovenly to have scruffy shoes.

A week or so back I posted this picture.
Long story short, this is a mates daughter who was doing a photo shoot for a fundraising calendar. The photo I posted is one my mate took on his phone, hence the average outcome.
Below are the professional photo's (much better):

Having a bad day, eh? Suggest you take a step back, smoke a bowl or take a swig, and have a fresh look at things.

Needless to say, no way of knowing the color scheme from a b/w photo, but a Japanese rising sun motif on a German motorcycle strikes me as an unfortunate choice for a number of reasons.

Scheme appearance doesn't change much with a color photo.
Tank colors are said to be "toffee bronze and cream". And yes, it's made to reference the Japanese Rising Sun.
