I was wondering if there are any model years considered better than others for a 450 EXC ?

    Thanks,

you want the RFS engine, thats '07 and before. the newer engines have had some oil issues but i believe ktm has fixed the problem on the newer engines. if you get the '07 450 exc and later decide you need more power, you can easily jug it up to 475, 520, 540, or 570 without issues using the exact same bottom end. you just need a jug, piston and maybe a cam depending upon your power characteristics needed. if your really crazy you can go to 613 but that requires stroking the crank.

If you want a RFS I would go with a 06 or 07. By this time all the bugs and quirks had been ironed out.The 07s came factory street legal. I love my 06:clap:clap:clap:clap

I had an '03, and '04 and now have an '07. None gave me any problems. KTMtalk.com can provide specifics. Good bikes.

I had an 02 520 that wouldn't quit. If you need a plate its 07 and newer. All the late ones are good too, 08s had oil seal issues but I'd guess if the bike has been ridden it has been corrected. I'd not seek an 08 but if the right one came along I'd not avoid it either.

I have an 03 250 and it is a beast! Overspec'd overbuilt engines that require nothing and rock in the woods.
