When A Village Is A Convent or Vice Versa Redux: That might be a question if you were motoring through the village of Still River as i did yesterday.

You can see from the map that there are 4 convent-related installations in the tiny village.

Below are pictures of 3 of the 4 above places. The pics run sequentially from bottom to top in the above map. The 3rd (i.e., Sisters of St. Benedict Center) is missing.

It certainly makes for a peaceful village.

A Nice Bridge Pic: I had been working on this photo for some time and can't remember if I posted it or not, so here it is - the bridge over the Contoocook River in Henniker, NH.

I ran the original image through AI a good number of times trying to what would amount to a reasonable view of the actual scene.

A Quick Look At Harvard: That would be the town of Harvard, not the university that is in Cambridge. Having stopped in Shrewsbury center yesterday, I made it a point to later stop in Harvard center and get several pics from the common. These follow, all of which were taken on Elm Street, which is at coordinates 42.501695, -71.585104.

Turning to the right and looking across the common gets you this view.

Just a little farther up Elm Street you run into the town hall, shown below.

With a forecast of cloudy weather to come into the region within several house, I got back to the what I came to do - ride.

Out Getting Some Ayer: I stopped just long enough yesterday to take this picture of downtown Ayer, MA. Pic was taken at or about coordinates 42.559774, -71.589143.

The MBTA station, which is just off to the right, was once a good place to photograph trains.

Here's one picture I have of the outside of the mill. Oddly enough, I found it today and it was taken on this day back in 2017. Not the best picture of the building and I probably have more but this should do it.

Based on what you've said, I really want to go take a bunch of photos of the place prior to any renovation.

Just Two Pics Of Clinton, MA: Two photos of Clinton, MA. The first was taken downtown on High Street at coordinates 42.417378, -71.684669.

Farther north on High street, past the RR tracks looks like this.

Two Road Photos: Just two road pics taken when I stopped to take look at something the other day. The first was taken in Pepperell, MA, at coordinates 42.667611, -71.598264. I had just passed a town hall (not shown) and stopped to make a note to come back for a shot.

The pic below was taken on Rt. 110 in Harvard where I stopped to get a good look at an extremely well-kept 1700s house. Will post that when I get the picture converted.

The house I stopped to look at in more detail is the well-kept 1782 colonial home shown below.

The house was built by Captain Thaddeus Pollard who was a patriot in the Continental Army. There's this information from the Harvard Historical Society:

Captain Thaddeus Pollard built this house for his family when he came to Harvard from Bolton. He was a successful blacksmith, and a clear sign of his prosperity was the inclusion of a swinging wall on the second floor. This paneled section could be swung up and hung on iron rests allowing two rooms to be turned into one large one for parties and meetings. The two chimneys have separate flues for all eleven fireplaces, including two in the attic. The Pollard family lived in the house for almost a century. The house is a well-preserved specimen of the architecture of Revolutionary Days. It was at the American Sycamore* in front of the house that the Shaker Ahijah Worster was scourged by the mob in 1782. Both Thaddeus and his wife, Submit, are buried in Harvard Center Cemetery. This tree is the 4th oldest Sycamore in Massachusetts.
The house is located at coordinates 42.476353, -71.621786.

Posting What You Saw Versus Showing What You Like: I sometimes have two different versions of a photo I took riding. First is the version I post here, which is mostly a conversion from RAW (Sony .ARW format) to JPEG that's run through an AI filter that tries to adjust contrasts and light levels. The intent is to post what I saw. The second version is often what I want to see. This can involve removing feathers and objects from the photo and then perhaps modifying the atmospherics (sky, light, mood, etc.) Below are two versions of the same photo, the first being the unmodified version that best depicts what I saw.

Above is a somewhat-interesting picture that might have posting interest. You might wonder what the two concrete barriers are for, since there are no others to be seen. For pure scenic intent, though, the concrete barriers and smokestack are a distraction and have to go. That's what we did to make version 2 below, which is a picture for my collection and not representative of the real scene.

I took out the concrete and replanted the area. The smokestack took a hit from the electronic wrecking ball and partially fell down. The result is a nice, scenic river picture. When posted, photo alterations are noted.

In the 7 plus years I've had the redhead, our interest has shifted almost totally away from jibber-jabber about motorcycles to making pictures that may be interesting to others who ride and/or take photos. The GS is just a good photography tool that gets me to where i want to be and what I want to see.

Trying AI On Planes: Up until today, I hadn't run any plane photos through my AI filter. Below is the first and it came out good. This filter only makes minor changes in contrast and lighting without "pushing" any colors.

This B29 is in the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, CT. It is now open.

Hocus Pocus Focus On A Blurry Bird: The image below is not a great photo; however, the improvement over the original is considerable, if not great. The jay was originally a somewhat blurry part of a larger picture taken with a bit of zoom. Zooming in on a subject with a handheld camera is likely to introduce some camera "shake" and introduce blurring. So, what I had was a small, somewhat-blurred bird in a much larger picture. With the use of some cropping and two filters, I got the image to this state.

Here is what I did: First, I cropped the original image, removing all except what shows above. The crop left the image size somewhere around 25% of what it was originally, which was too small for a good, larger. image. To remedy that, I used Topaz Gigapixel AI filter, which was able to enlarge the cropped image to 4X its original size without loss of detail. Simply put, it rebuilds the image in a larger context. Doing that, however, makes the motion blur quite apparent. To solve that, I used Topaz Sharpen AI filter to reduce the blur and bring back the detail. The result was, I think, gaining a decent image from a crap photo

We had a private work event there several years ago. They let us crawl around inside the plane. Pretty cool

Pulling these out of the files and running them thru AI is compensation for not getting to the Air Force Museum as was planned for last year.

Nice? Did you get any pics? I ask because the front office of a B29 is way cool. The museum does have a virtual tour of the cockpit online.

On The Subject Of Gas: Am seeing a good many posts on another forum about long lines and gas shortages in the southeast. I stopped at a station just off the interstate this afternoon that's usually quite busy and I was the only one at the pumps the whole time I was there. I am hoping the shortage doesn't creep up this way.

Gas prices are going up but there doesn't seem to be gouging yet. I paid about $3.35 per gallon for the top grade.

Shots From Ride Today: Below are several pics from today's ride. You can see the level of greening up that's occurring

Temps were in the low 60s with moderate wind and lots of clouds. Good news about rainfall, we're within an inch of making our average and there's good water flow at the moment.
