Yes, it is under new management (i.e., now owned by the East Quabbin Land Trust) and seems to be doing well with area and community support. They even have a web site named Petersham Country Store. Haven't had any food there in a long time but their little kitchen seems busy.

Edit Note: I just looked at their menu, which is a little uppity for me. Sometimes a rider just wants a good burger and fries, not a spinach-artichoke panini.

A Most Pleasant Stop: I was rummaging through some older pics, looking for images of the grist mill near the Wayside Inn to post on another forum. I found this one, cleaned it up and ran it through AI.

The AI filter didn't do much other than adjust the gamma (gamma being the difference between what you see and what the camera sees); however, the end result above reminded me that the Wayside iin Sudbury was a very pleasant stop. Also, it is now on my list of places to take the drone.

Another Pleasant Stop: That would be Grafton Common, shown by the drone view below looking at the Grafton Inn across the street. I often go by here riding to and from places.

Not A Riding Pic But Perhaps Relevant: The picture below was not taken while riding. It was taken in our yard while flying, though, and it may have relevance to future rides. I have always wanted some means to photograph nature subjects that were a little far afield. I took a picture of our rose bush by chance while practicing with the drone and camera, flying at about 2nd story roof level.

Thus, I learned I can get a decent pic of things from some distance. Inanimate subjects aside, I am wondering how close I can get to wildlife that I often see (e.g., deer, blue herons, etc.).

On Its Last Legs? I have this thing for carriage houses, new and old. In fact, we live in one. Below is picture I took the other day of an old beauty that looks like it may not be long for this world. The roof is a dead giveaway for what's about to happen.

The structure also looks to be a barn owl apartment. It's the kind of place carriage lovers would like to see rescued but it looks too far gone for that.

Stay Put: That's what the dispatcher must have told NECR 417 as it sat at the junction for the longest time.

There's a story here on why that old GP waited there for so long. More to follow but weather is too nice to hang around here much longer.

Two Days, Two Pictures, Two Views With Differences: Below are two pictures of a single subject, the Boyalston, MA, church on the common. Each was taken on a different day with a different camera. First is today's pic taken with the DX100 vii pocket camera.

I thought the two trees framed the subject nicely above. Several days earlier I had gotten a picture of the same church with the drone, shown below.

If I had to choose between the two, the sky view would win hands down. It was way too windy today for a better sky view, so I used the old one taken on June 12. Each day I am learning more. For example, I should have rolled the drown more to the left for a better perspective in the building.

More to follow on this sky vs. ground perspective thing.

This plane and the F16 are two of the best looking planes IMHO.

Old Stage Road Tavern: I was told the brick building in the center of the picture below was once a tavern on the old stage road that passed through the village center below.

The Stranded GP Two things seemed strange in the referenced picture above. First was the length of time the GP had been idling on the other side of the CSX mainline when there had been no traffic on that line for quite some time. Second was the fact that the switch to nowhere, located just before the diamond, had been switched to nowhere, making the NECR track impassable. I had to go check it out.

Right about then a CSX supervisor showed and told me a rail replacement crew was scheduled to show up and roll through the diamond promptly at 11:00. I am guessing this was the reason for making the GP wait.

When the crew failed to show up on time, they let the GP cross and go into its yard.

The whole waiting thing seemed stupid but there may be factors that I don't understand.
