An 1841 Church: As New England church buildings go, the one below in Nelson, NH, is classic and quite large for a small town.

The town of Nelson once had a larger population than it does now. Primarily an agricultural area, the town was also home to an industrial area in the village of Munsomville, where cotton and chairs were once manufactured.

A Very Tiny House: I'd seen and photographed this before but am no closer to understanding what it is/was. It was located just across from the church in the previous post.

Those are some scary steps, especially in the winter! Slip and slide...broken bones. Ouch.

Grist Mill - Part 1: I rode out there again this morning, taking a bunch of shots. Below are the first two of a bunch, starting with an updated ground shot taken with the RX100 vii pocket camera.

Below is the first of several drone shots.

Cutting Edge: That's what I think of when I look at the old Lamson & Goodnow Cutlery Mill in Shelburne Falls. The company was active from 1837 to 2014 when it went Chapter 11.

The company reorganized as Lamson in 2015, selling off most of the old mill above and below.

    More aerial images to follow.

I really don't know but I've never seen a 1700s/1800s parsonage that small. I will provably ride back up there just to find out. It's bugging me.

An Old Academy Building: Below is the old 1837 New Salem Academy building located at coordinates 42.499979, -72.330752.

    Here is the aerial view.

Back then schools were often called an academy. Some still are.

Try this link; it has a link for the history of the church as well as a link off that for an older history. It mentions a few things "across from the church" which you might be able to orientate having been there. Ministers home, schoolhouse, and meetinghouse.

Beautiful, the grounds are very well maintained and I like how they display the mill stones. Thank you!

New Salem's 2nd Academy Building: When the old school building pictured above became too small, a 2nd structure was built in the early 1900s with the academy becoming essentially a vocational high school. It ceased operation in 1968 and later became a private residence.

Note the large, windowless addition to the right rear of the building above. Elevator tower? It didn''t seem to be there back in 1016, as shown below.

Milling Around In The Sky: Just several shots taken while the drone was over the Stanley Mill in Uxbridge. It shows the kind of mill-row houses that were found around these mills.
