This is a Google photo, with right click.
I'm in total agreement with all this. I'm one of the biggest fans of Picasa. All of my tens of thousands of photos are organized in Picasa, and when I wanted to post something here or elsewhere, it was a simple matter of uploading the photo to Google and copying the link.
Now... as far as my research has shown, that is no longer possible.
It's time for me to find a new way to host and organize photos.
I use Flickr, I find it more mobile friendly.
@TrashCan, just to clarify... only one of your photos in the post 3 spots above is visible... the other one shows a huge Do Not Enter sign in gray. Your most recent screenshot, I see, but I am not given those options when I right click (I used to get them with Picassa, but Google Photo not)... perhaps it's my browser or my computer (yours looks like Apple, am I wrong? I'm using Dell.) Right now I'm using IE because Chrome has been giving me issues.
So far, I am in the same boat as @Jamie Z
At the moment I am on Windows with Firefox.
That screenshot was probably done on a Mac.
I changed some settings to try to see what's going on.
I haven't used picassa in about 4 years.
I got a few in Google, I'll post one of those.
@TrashCan, the first one is not there, the second of the red Suzuki is... Do you see them both?
As far as I know, Picassa is dead. Google discontinued it. They tried to convince me that Google Photo (which is lumped in with a Google Account, like Gmail, Calendar etc) is the same or better, but it's bullshit. It's only good, so far as I can see, for sharing within the Google Platform (which the world basically said NO to when they rejected Circles) or emailing/Facebooking... copying a URL does not seem to work anymore...
I hope I'm wrong.
This is a screen shot from an iPhone .
Here's the scoop on posting images from Google Photos...
First, the images need to be in an album that has been shared with the "Get Link" option. You will not use the generated link to embed photos as that is just a link to the album gallery, but if you do not do this share action then you end up with the situation where you can see your posted photos but no one else can. I have an album called "web" where I keep all my random publicly posted images.
** note: In the below picture, #1 click should be pointing to the "connect the dots" button one position to the left
While viewing the album, click on the picture that you want to embed in a forum post so that you are now viewing the single image. You have to be viewing the single image. If you try to copy the image URL from the album gallery it will not work. I'm going to use that first pic of the ass end of my 990 Adventure.
Right-click on the image and select "Copy Image Address" or whatever gets you the URL of the image. This is NOT the same as the URL in the address bar of your browser, so do not copy it from there.
This will yield a very long link with some important information at the end. It looks like this....
See the "=w603-h804" at the end of the URL? That represents the rendered size of the image (603px X 804px) and is going to be important in a minute. Note that the exact width specified in the copied URL is not the original size of the photo, but is directly a result of the size of your browser window when you copied the image address.
So now click the image button in the post editor and paste the URL into the dialog box...
Now what you do is edit the end of the URL so that the width is something appropriate for posting in a forum. I find that 800px or 1024px width works great. As you can see from the info in the "single image" view above the original is 1536px wide, so we will set it to 800px wide and remove the rest so the height can sort itself out proportionally.
Now hit insert and the result will be the image sized to 800px wide.
Finally, you can verify that all is well by viewing your post in an "Incognito" browser window - aka porn mode. This will reveal if the album and its pictures are properly shared so others will see them.
Hope that helps folks. Once you get used to the process you get to where you can fairly quickly flip through a gallery and get all the photos inserted. yeah it's a bit of a pain with the forced "upgrade" from Picasa Web, but it's doable.
That's what I do, but I called it getting the photo away from the rest.
Well, not sure how i did all that above!!
These came from images saved on my HD, i think. Was trying to post from Google Pictures with a "?.jpg" added to the end of the URL.
This is all FM to me.

Looks like you used the upload pic on the bottom right.
That takes the photos from your hard drive and displays them here.
What a pain in the a$$. The right click option in IE isn't there. I have to go to Properties and nab the URL from there.
Now, I've done this several times before. Above you should see 3 identical photos of a red Vespa in the mountains, just different sizes.
If this works, thanks @motokeith
Looks like you got it
Why not just upload the photos to the forum?
my test - right click, open in new tab, use that URL, in Chrome running in Mac OS:
Copy Image Address:
piggybacking here to see if new google photos links will work in advrider w/o bbcode, like a link from the smugmug ios app does w/ oEmbed.
no. it's still pissing me off too. i think it has to do with google and if you have an account, and are logged into them or not. some people seem to be able to see them but some not. i just stopped posting pics, if i do i add as an attachment which sucks.
i'd give the mod's a screenshot, visual journey of exactly what i am doing but....oh ya, pics dont work.
above it was mentioned that one of my photos was a .jpeg while the other was another format. i still for the life of me can't find a place in google photo's that will tell me which it is when you grab their link. i'm not an idiot and can operate a computer so you would think that when you click on your goggle pic and ask for a "sharable link" that people would actually be able to see it when you share it.
sorry, needed to vent.
