Testing the trick for posting a google photo... even though I've done it successfully for 8 years, suddenly my old way doesn't work.

If you can see the image below (annealing copper washer) then this might work for you (with Google Photos in Win 8.1)

    Open your SHARED ALBUM photos

RIGHT-CLICK on the photo to post

Select OPEN LINK IN NEW TAB (top line)

    OPEN new tab with pic

    RIGHT-CLICK on pic

Select COPY IMAGE ADDRESS (fourth line)

Come back to ADVrider thread, CLICK on the photo icon (above)

In the IMAGE URL window, do a CONTROL P (paste)

    Viola!!

Until the Google decides to (again) keep people from hot-linking their own images.

    kwthom, Pepperlady,

All I see in your posts above is a - in an O in your post. No pics. Strange I can do a Snip Tool of the image and post it here:

Sorry, I guess the method above doesn't work all the time. I've used this method on several other forums for some time now without problems.

Make sure the images you are posting are in a shared album. That is the key to this method working. If the images are not in a shared album you will be able to see them because your browser is logged into your Google account, but no one else will be able to see them. You can sanity check that your postings are correct by viewing the page with your browser in "incognito" mode.

They are in a shared album, so I am not sure what is going on. And I logged out of my google account and they still show for me????

How did you share the album? The way I have always done it is to go into the album and click "Share" (the three connect-the-dots) and then click "Copy Link". You won't use the link for anything, but the act of clicking it makes album viewable by the public.

Okay, I had not done that. I had made the album public, so I did not know that I needed to share it, too. Will you please scroll up to my DR00 photo above & see if you can see it now?

I need to share the image in an album, that I didn't do.

    PepperLady,

Yes, the pic "HAS TO BE" in a "SHARED ALBUM", which Google has made setting up a very non-intuitive process with the new version of PHOTOS.

    Your pic shows now!!

    I am/was using Google drive.
I was choosing a photo, then clicking the chain-get link button , and was getting a strange link , clicking on it was giving another link further down the window. I was coping this second link , opening a site where I could transform the copied link to a proper url. The last url I would insert it in Advrider message I was writing and all was well. Now I do not get the proper link when I click on the chain-get link button...? I also can't find the transformation site... any ideas?

Can you use Google Photo?? It works well for me.

Another option is Snipping Tool that copies directly.
