An update on my order with thegpsstore, Received an e-mail this morning from thegpsstore, an Information Request with two options:

Option#1: Please email a picture from your smartphone or scan the following information to cid@thegpsstore.com :
    1. Front and back of your credit card. (number, name and signature must be visible.)
    2. A Photo ID, with a signature. (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
    3. The following handwritten statement, dated and signed: "I, Brent Ross, authorize The GPS Store to charge the amount of $270.45 to the credit card shown above.
Please note you can also Fax these documents to 910-575-9543.

Option#2 is a bank wire transfer. Option 1 just seems like a really bad idea to be e-mailing anyone photos of my credit card, plus license or passport. So I opted for Option #2, which meant a trip to the bank, pay a $30C fee for the wire transfer ($22US) and wait 24-48 hours for all this to "clear" the bank. I was hoping to use this gps on an upcoming trip but no way I'll see it time now. Because of this I would not order from them again. To be clear, this may not be an issue for US residents, it's only an issue because I'm a Canadian shipping to a US address, my drop shipper. But c'mon I have been buying stuff from the US, shipping to this same drop shipper for over a dozen years and this is the FIRST time I've been asked to jump through hoops like this. Have purchased 3 gps' from gpscity and it was a usual pain free process.

Finally a big F#ck you to all the scumbag criminals who make us normal law abiding citizens jump through these hoops.

I will probably cancel my order, certainly won't be sending my personal info. Found on the GPS store site. Guess $250 is a high value order.

    International Ordering
International customers wishing to place an order with The GPS Store can do so directly on our website. We normally ship by Federal Express for fast and reliable service and our website will automatically calculate your shipping charges before finalizing your order. Delivery generally takes 3 days but can be longer if there is a delay in customs.

PLEASE NOTE that brokerage fees, customs, duties and/or import taxes are not included in our prices and will be billed to you and collected by the courier (DHL, FedEx etc.) upon delivery.

    Payments on International Orders.

We accept credit cards for payment on some International orders, however you may be asked to provide Identification and written authorization by email or fax. NOTE: On high value orders an electronic funds or bank wire transfer is required.

So Bass Pro has a Garmin 610t for $449 and 680t for $499. The descriptions are exactly the same so could someone give me a quick review of each? And I see them cheaper on Amazon but without the t which I think are preloaded maps? (I need for off-road mainly) TYIA

Don't forget GPSCity.com. They price match and give 10% off Ram stuff IIRC. Very user friendly too.

Built in memory basically. 610 has 4G, while the 680 has 8G, but both support microsd cards so kinda a moot point.
