I'm also headed to Moab. Leaving today and will be there until Sunday. Riding a KTM 990R and will probably do Schafer Trail, Onion Creek, and other lower routes.

I don't have any intel on the trail conditions at the moment. I would guess it is dry and ride-able but I'm currently in Argentina at the moment. Depending on your bike size... you might want to bypass rose garden hill.

if you decide to do it, please report back and let us know how it is. Good luck and have fun.

I just heard today that John Brown canyon & the La Sals are still snowed in, so No... the complete Kokopelli is not clear & rideable at this point. You could ride the Koko, go down Rose Garden Hill, then turn Right and go down Onion Creek an alternate.

I have driven around the La Sals several times in the last few weeks....nothing more current than 2 weeks ago. There is a lot of snow up there, and more than last year.

Last year we could not get through to Moab all the way via John Brown when we went in early April, so I doubt that it's doable just yet. I'll be down that way in a couple of weeks and will take an up close look to see.

I'm headed to Moab tomorrow on the Tenere. I'm just going to check out Schafer switchbacks and mess around nothing crazy. Leaving from GJ in the morning if anyone's interested.

Was it one of the ADVrider crew that I saw coming up from Gateway yesterday? Passed a silver Honda Africa Twin and a KLR as my riding buddy and I were headed south towards Gateway (we were on GS1150adv and a 1100 GS).
We did check out Cactus Park yesterday also. Fun ride around. Got sloppy climbing up toward Devide road, and also in the sand washesin the bottom. Fun though!

NorthFork, that was me on the Africa Twin and the Wife on the KLR. We just stuck to the pavement yesterday. We rode up little park road today and out past Glade Park till it turned gravel and dirt and rode that into Utah for a bit and turned around. Good to know about Cactus park. Sounds like a good time, loving this weather.

    dwest650,
Nice to put a bike with the name, per say.
Have been wondering about the routes out of Glade Park. Looks like there is a way to make it down to Gateway via dirt and gravel.
If ever you feel like some company, give me a shout. Would be great to meet up.

Yes, there is... Sheep Creek Road. The Dolores Triangle is ROUGH (rocky) and Sheep Creek Road is a SOB, steep, loose and a lot of tight swichbacks... best ridden on a 650cc sized bike or smaller.

    Greg@RME,
Thanks for that insight! Alas, all of my toys are a little heavy for the task....though the DR650 might get wrestled through there...
So many trails to be explored.
Thanks for the Utah comments also.

I took my DR650 up there from Gateway. Wasn't fun but made it. Make sure you have a skid plate!
