    :rofl:rofl:rofl

Admittedly I haven't been in there for a few months & it can change if there's been a 4wd club with a bunch of keen shovellers through, but in general, yeah nah.

You can cut the corner there on Hamilton Rd, (despite the sign at the southern end) but I wouldn't if it's your first run through as it's more interesting to go via Kennedy Bay. The hot pools at Waitangi are a bit rustic, but they're cheap & usually a good temp.

McIvor Rd is a good one, steep narrow gravel & some nice views.

    Cheers

:photog Had a feeling it'd be a stupid question, but hey!
    Kennedy Bay it is..
Waitangi hot pools might be an alternative to a dip in the lake.
    Once more...THANKS!

    Sounds great.
Will be through that area either middle of the last week in March or middle of the first week in April, depending on looping clock/ anticlock wise.
Will make contact closer to the time.

The Pest is back with more questions... only 2 this time :umph

One for the 'Naki-folks: Parallel to SH43, between Strathmore and Pohokura. Despite the "No exit" markers on the road signs at either end, does the Jury Rd/ Arnold Rd. go through or is it
blocked/ locked by logging/ private land or such? Looks ok on Gmaps and might be more interesting than the hwy. Worth it? https://goo.gl/AanLCU

Next one is southern Waikato/ Awakino area.
Awakino-> Mahoenui via Taumatamaire Rd. Again, worth a gander? https://goo.gl/mbbJQg

Just looking for some extra kick to spice up a Naki -loop via some interesting lead-in/ lead-out options.

Thanks for any info or ideas.

yes. sh3 thru the awakino gorge you'll be doing 60 behind a truck with about 3 chances to overtake. your option offers some good fast farm/bush gravel with some great views.

    Oops...must admit I didn't look and didn't know.:uhoh
Being old-school and non-GPS it's not the first place I tend to go and look.

The ARNZ forum site has sadly never worked for me, the maps are jumping around, zooming in+out at random by themselves , threads auto-scrolling while reading, maps/ pics going off-center, sliding off-frame and all sorts of other weird stuff ... :(

The site knows you're Australian Pete and is trying to even out the shaky vision from a life of drinking crap beer.

I haven't had any other comments of things doing that and haven't seen it myself so wasn't aware of it. The mapping plugin and core software have both had a number of updates recently so hopefully it doesn't do that anymore.

I know using it on a mobile is a bit of a pain, I'm looking to see if I can do anything about that.

Have to step up the quality of the beer supplies then, bugger!
Maybe it's that Win10 and Firefox...all desktop, no mobile.

    :-)
Looking forward...only a few weeks to go!
Eager to listen to your Bannockburn- yarns.

Whakatane area, Thornton Beach, Sun 24/3 late arvo....
If anyone wants to meet up for a "beer + pizza" night....
And if things get a bit too liquid, there's a spare cot for at least one, (maybe up to 3, if you can still haul yer arse into the top bunk without
    breaking a leg). Earplugs required.
Post here or shoot me a pm.
    cheers
