Thank you, Sir. That's quite a compliment, coming from someone of your enviable talent.
I'm a photographer. I often have to work inside hockey rinks: some colder 'n others. I always carry two batteries, and one is always in my pocket where it's warm. Change frequently, recharge as soon as possible.
One thought: cover the radiator so it doesn't get TOO cold.
Old northern-boy trick, resurfaced by a local that just rode across Canada.
Here's an old cyclists' tip: if you need instant warmth from inadequate layers, stuff newspapers down inside your jacket. Helps mitigate heat loss from wind chill.
I was up your way around new years I see parks place has new dig's. pretty high brow for GlennAllen.
I was out today too - went up Arctic Valley road. It was a sheet - couldn't have got it slicker with a Zamboni. No prob for the KLR, but there was a couple 4x trucks trying to back down the hill & ended up leaving bumper marks in the snowbanks - highly entertaining. I have a couple kinda crappy pix of Denali but can't load from this computer - they woud be sick next to you guy's.
Alcan Rider, that alpenglow IS beautiful! WOW!
AND man, that wing has some serious candle power!
Hey KL5A, looks like Snowzilla lost his hat! Great shots over in the 'Winter Rides' thread too from today's ride.
Congrats to you guys all gettin out today and getting home safely!
It is pretty shocking, isn't it.
And not only that, but they're going to pave the parking lot this summer or next. Next thing you know we'll be dragged, kicking and screaming, into the 21st century.
Ask photog about that. He followed me out of Valdez last summer, using my lights to watch for moose.
OK so here's my Denali shot - pretty crappy (but this is the best view point on Arctic Vally road). Check out the road.... sheet of ice..... Zamboni time!
Whuch u mean...looks like a damn good shot to me!
But got a later start than I should have... so just some more late afternoon photos.
Mt Sanford was looking good in the alpenglow -
And the sunset was nice - even prettier in person -
After the sun goes below the horizon, the mountains take on a totally different hue -
Maybe later in the week I can play hookey from work and ride up into Isabel Pass for some good pics.
Jack...great pics as always...looks damn good but COLD!

a winter bike?
That was done in a early 80's James Bond movie.... ski resort.... guys chasing Roger Moore on XT-500s. Can't remember the name.
Well, Barb had hooked me up with a ticket to go see Wild Hogs (THANKS BARB!) tonight but got out this afternoon....did a lap up to Hatchers....I brought my camera but forgot to put a card in it.....Road is in GREAT shape except for some gravel buildup in some of the key lines...Was zero degrees at the top so I went home and put a couple more layers on...then, heading into town....I sure dig the longer days...
As I got into downtown Anchorage it was fun to surprise all the touristas in town for the Iditarod....I could read their minds...WTF? LOL
Well, I noticed an epic sunset about to arrive so I skiddadled down towards the airport to look out over Cook Inlet...
Amazing how once the sun goes down...things look COLD...this is downtown in Anchorage in the background...
COME ON SPRING!
BTW...the movie was pretty fun! Would recommend it for sure!
Impressive ride, Robert!
Quite a full day. Lotta miles in chilly temps! Lovely photos.
So how'd you like the movie? Pretty large of HD riders there, eh?
