    I think my favorite was Rodney and his daughter cruising around together. that's the best feeling ever, taking one of the kids for a spin. you can feel them relax and start to lean in, the fear goes away so fast, And they love how it dips deep into turns. :-)

    I'm in the Cumming GA area and hosted a few practice events last year. Been a bit busy since my daughter was born, but if there's interest, I have enough cones to make a decent size track.

    I am on another forum that covers the state of Alabama. We have been putting on 2-3 events a year for the past 8-10 years. A member of that forum owns a motorcycle shop called The Bike Shop;
    https://www.facebook.com/The-Bike-Shop-Leeds-Al-1531689463522327/

    and he is providing the space to put a Gymkhana on. We have the back parking lot behind the shop, the city of Leeds shuts down the street behind the shop and we also have access to a big parking lot that is on the other side of the street the city of Leeds is shutting down.

    So there is plenty of room.
    Normally 2 "Circles of Trust" are set up so rider's who have never done a Gymkhana or riders we do not know can practice on until they can show they have the skill level to ride the course's.
    Circle of Trust;

    Once that is done riders are issued a sticker so the other instructors know they can ride the other course's.

    We never charge anyone to do a Gymkhana. All the folks "working" the course do it for free.
    Some video's of past Gymkhana's and explains why we set the course's up like we do;

    Past Gymkhana's;

    We also put on practice sessions we call GP-8's

    I mentioned the Barber's museum (and racetrack) is located near the place this Gymkhana is being held at. If you do come over from Atlanta (or any where else) I would suggest getting a Hotel room in this area (Leeds Alabama) so that if you have never been, you can tour it.
    Video taken in the museum;

    There are also some really good roads to ride close by like HWY 25 (sound is sort of loud)

    Hope to see y'all there.

    It is, we are not all serious, all the time kind of folks. Most of us ride to have fun, be it dirt, pavement, fast, slow, technical, easy, it is all good. :thumb

    Cheers for your posts, I'm in NZ, South Pacific .... Sorry, I won't be able to make it. Great to see this thread still has life and appeal.

    You have given me pause for thought, I'm hoping to motard an early 90s 2t trailie (CRM250R) in the next wee while. Firing it through twisty tar seal has been my motivation, it goes like a cut cat with race pipe and carb mods, linear and smooth are not part of the vocabulary.

    Your posts have prompted me to think about how it will gymkhana.. Handling fine. Controlling that rev hungry, peaky motor? Frequent oil changes I guess, it doesn't wear the front tyre much. Gonna have to get good on the clutch.

    It might end in tears. Feeling fine to oh shit is barely measurable.

    Another good reason for me to pull finger, thank you. Feel the fear etc..

    Well it is another Gymkhana in the books. Thanks to The Bike Shop in Leeds Alabama for use of the property, the pizza, and of course the hospitality.
    Here is a short cellphone video, the GoPro footage to follow.

    Well stated, it translates to the street very well, avoiding obstacles, ballet on the bike giving more experience in the bikes balance points, speeds it can handle in the turns [ the more you play the faster you get at the same arc ].

    Just learning and playing with the balance of the bike in a controlled environment benefits having it be OFT [ on fly training ] where the street holds no prisoners.

    Hello, lol.
    Must admit that this kind of training has turned what would have been "oh crap" moments on the street into non events. The instincts learned for fun can be life savers. Changed my riding completely, not just slow speed either. Everyone should do it!
